This is my player’s guide! This will tell you how to do anything and everything on PB3, with some tips and tricks thrown in! Yes, it’s long. It might be boring to read, but I’ll try my best not to put you to sleep!
Let’s get started, shall we? I’m going to give you a guide to each of the little buttons on the top of your PB3 screen, starting with home.
The first button is the logo that says “Ponybox”. If you click on this it will take you to the PB home page. This is where you log in, and how to access the Legacy Servers. Legacy servers are the old PB servers- Morgan, Paint, Nokota, and Pegasus. You accounts there are still the same, nothing was lost with the upgrade. There’s not much else you can do here, so we’ll move on.
Next we have “Home”. Clicking this will magically make your home page appear! It will say “Welcome (Your barn name here)” because it is happy to see you! Here is where you can see what your buddies have been up to, where you will be able to take the daily quizzes (I’ll explain those later..), and one of the places where you can check for gifts from other players. From here you can go to “Quiz”, “Ranking”, “Transactions”, and “Poll”. Now, I will break those down. Hahaha, so fun. You people are lucky I love you!
“Quiz”. Clicking quiz will bring you up to the stats on your quiz-taking skills. If you take a quiz and pass it, the bar on that category will go up. If you fail, then the bar goes down. This is basically just to track how much passing or failing you’ve been doing in the quizzes. Now that I’ve told you this, I have to tell you about the quizzes. These are what PB3 has in place of the Daily Refund on the legacy servers. They are timed, so you can’t really look up the answers over the internet. That would be cheating. Tsk tsk. To take one, just go to home and click on the button to take the quiz. Then, answer. You either get it right or wrong, simple as that! But don’t worry, if you get it wrong there’ll always be another chance to take another quiz the next day. Now, onward to the next button!
“Ranking”. A player’s ranking is basically a measure of how long you’ve been on PB3, and eventually how popular you are. To go up in a ranking you have to have a certain amount of popularity. That’s why you see little buttons next to your name on the Forums. Click up, your popularity goes up. Vice versa if you click down. To upgrade your ranking, just click “Upgrade my ranking”. Then, wait the amount of time and the handy-dandy countdown clock, and upgrade again. But only if you have enough popularity, mind you.
“Transactions”. Ah, this is easy. Hoorah for less typing! All this does is keeps track of the money being spent and earned. So, if you buy something, it’s recorded here. If you win an event, it’ll say how much money was won!
“Polls”. This is where you can create, and answer other player’s polls. It can be a poll on just about anything, as long as it abides by the Ponybox rules. (There is no rules page on PB3 yet, so just refer to the Legacy Server rules if you’re rusty.) To create a poll, click the “Create a Poll” button in the upper righthand corner of the poll boxes. Then fill out the information and submit it. To input your answer into another player’s poll, click on the poll’s title and select the answer you want. It’ll ask you if you are sure this is what you want to answer, and you must answer yes. Or else select the right answer! You can also watch polls. To do this, click on the title of the poll you want to watch and select “Watch”. When you watch a poll it’ll display on the right-hand side of your screen. If you want to comment on a poll, select “Leave a Comment” on the bottom of the poll. Reminder- Abide by the rules! Viola!
Our next button is the “Game” button. This is your VIP access to the Extreme Polo game, and your way in to the controls of your polo team. What makes this Polo EXTREME, I will never know. When you come to the Game Screen, you’ll see some previous matches. If you are doing recon on other players, go ahead and click on “View Match” and check out everyone’s horses and win records. Otherwise, you can examine your polo game. There are five buttons on the “Game” home screen- “Game Home” (You are already there! Weeeeee!), “Horses”, “Events”, “Trainers”, and “Technology”. I’ve already covered game home, so, on we go!
“Horses”. Lots of typing here. I think this makes up for the little typing I had to do in transactions. After you click on horses, you come to the Polo Field screen. Under the field image you can see your starters. Or, if you haven’t assembled your team yet, you see no horses. To acquire horses, click “Get Horses”. There are three breeds, Shetland, Highland Pony, and Skyros Pony. They range in price, and it’s up to you how much you want to spend. When you decide, click on the horse, and press “Buy”. Congratulations, you’ve just purchased your first horse! Now, you need atleast three more to form a polo team. Now, buy more! You can name the horses by clicking on the Name link, and then going to “Edit Name”. Now the fun starts! You can put your horses in their starting order by going to “Bench”. There should be a drop-down menu next to each horse, and it has B, 1, 2, 3, and 4 in it. “B” of course is Bench, the others are the order of the horses. Now, assemble away!
“Events”. This is where you can enter different events. To enter an event, find the “Join Event” button under “Events”. There should be the Finnish Open event. Click “Join Event”, and then on the next page click on of the “Join” buttons. Which one? Your choice.
“Trainers”. Easy-leasy-lemon-squeezy. There is only one choice here, and it’s Silvia Jones. Click on her graphic, and then “Hire Trainer”. Find the horse you want trained, and click on the button below the horse’s picture. Repeat this process until every horse you want trained has been assigned the trainer. To see if your horse has a trainer, go back to the “Horses” page and see if there is a little Riding Helmet image next to the horse’s name. If there is, success! If not, try, try again.
“Technology”. This is where you can develop technology to enhance your horses’ performance in polo events. To start developing technology, click the “Start” button. It’ll develop after the appropriate amount of time, then you can put your shiny new stuff on the horse! To do this, go back to “Horses”, click on the horse you want, and click the “Buy” button under horse details. Does technology help? Oh yes. It’s worth it, in my humble opinion.
Well, I’ve typed up this whole thing and not yet developed carpal tunnel, so here we go! On to the next button. This would be “Settings”. This is where you can change your barn name, username, password, profile picture, and where you will eventually be able to set a parental control. The only thing that really needs explaining would be the profile picture. When you upload it, don’t freak out when it doesn’t show right away. The admin must look it over and make sure it follows the PB rules and is appropriate, and only then will the rest of ponybox see it.
Next on the list is the “Photos”. You can upload pictures here, as long as they follow the PB rules (Again- check the legacy server rules.) To add photos just click “Add Photos”, then “Browse” (Unless you can write out the code on the picture, that is.) and select your photo. Then, wait until it’s approved. Viola! You have pictures!
My personal favorite is next- “Gifts”! This is where you can see the gifts that other players have so graciously taken the time and the money to send to you. If you want to send a player a gift, just click on their name and find the “Send a Gift” button. Type your message in the box, and then select the gift you want to send them! No further explaining is needed, I believe.
Ah, the “Forums”. A big, giant playground where you can meet, greet, advertise, Role-Play, and show off your graphics. They aren’t much different from the ones on the Legacy Servers. To create a forum, click “Create Discussion”. Type all you want, and make sure you have the right verification code! Gotta love those, they are quite plentiful on PB3! Otherwise, keep it clean and don’t break the Ponybox rules. And don’t bully on this playground, there are Moderators who will swoop down like a hawk and remove your posts, and possibly your account. But don’t be scared, the moderators are nice players, and if they remove your posts or block you, it’s not because they don’t like you. It’s their job to keep the peace.
Almost done! Next is the “Inbox”. This where you can view all the messages that have been sent you from other players, and that you’ve sent back. There is a new feature here, called Group Discussions. To add a player to existing discussions, scroll down like you are going to reply and find “Add”. As far as I know, the player you want to add must be a buddy in order for them to be brought into the discussion. To send a message to a player, click on their name and find “Send a Message”. Type it up, send it, and then wait for the reply. When you have mail, it’ll pop up on the right side of you screen and say “You have Mail”. Pretty similar to Legacy Servers mailing.
And last on the list is “Buddies”. The pasture Buddy feature works the same on PB3 as on Morgan. You can view your pasture buddies and accept Pasture Buddy Requests from here. When you have a Pasture Buddy Request, it’ll pop up like you have mail, but say “You have a new Pasture Buddy Request”. Accept or decline, it’s your choice!
I have some additional information for you lovely people. The News is displayed on the right hand side of your screen. You can submit news, but the admin will have to look it over before it displays. Also, there is an Admit Support Button on the right-hand side. This is for emergencies only, most questions can be answered by the friendly players and moderators of PB3.
There are also some problems with the server that may arrise, but Jeff and the PB team have done a great job at fixing bugs and glitches quickly. This guide only cover Phase one of the upgrade, but be expecting an updated version THE DAY that Phase II and Phase III are released! Hope you had as much fun reading this as I did typing this! It took me two hours. But it was time well spent!
