Howrse is a browser horse sim game where horselovers and riding enthusiasts can breed, buy, sell, train horses, as well as manage and work in stables. Howrse is owned by a French-based company Owlient and has more than 5.5 million players.
Owlient was created in 2005 by Olivier Issaly and Vincent Guth. At the time they were students it the University of Paris, but both dropped out the following year to concentrate their time on the development of their online company. In it's 5 year history, the company has had 16 million registered users, of which 1.5 million are currently active. In 2008 Owlient received a 3 million Euro investment from Innovacom to help accelerate the development and growth of the company.
Throughout the years Owlient has branched out to other interests as well: child-rearing (www.babydow.com), breedingfish (www.aquariow.com), and fashion (www.fashiown.fr). Currently, Owlient games can be played in six different languages: English, French, German, Spanish, Russian, and Portuguese. Upcoming Arabic language version will be the next addition.
Owlient games are made to be community games - the players have to interact with the community in order to become successful in the game. The games use "virtual goods" economic model, which allow the players to choose the prices, values, and timing of purchases in the game.
What makes Owlient one of the top in the browser game industry is their vast knowledge of latest technologies, generous sharing of their internally created Web development framework, as well as a monitoring platform for their gaming network. |

I play on Howrse. I enjoy it, however, unlike Ponybox, it is hard to make friends. On its forums you can only talk about the game, nothing else.
At least on Ponybox, you can talk about Real Life, horses, and Ponybox on the forums. It is a lot easier to make friends. That is one of the reasons why Ponybox will always be my "home."

I used to play on Howrse, but I never really enjoyed it, so I just sold my horses and deleted my account. It was hard to make friends on there, and for most of the stuff you had to pay for them, like passes and divine horses.
