Nearing the Two Year Mark on Ponybox
|
|
Almost two years ago on January 28, 2009, I came across Ponybox while searching for horse games online. Ever since that moment when I clicked, “Create Account” Ponybox has been my “home.”
Ever since the moment I joined my barn on the Morgan server has always been Chris Antley Memorial. During the first few months on there I was known as CAM, the first letter from each word in my barn name. After I became a well-known player on there, “CAM” grew into “Chris.”
Also during that first year, I became an artist. At first I only did graphics and eventually icons and then later digital artwork. I admired the artists, Artista, The C R E E K, and Fox Crest Stables. I longed to create artwork as realistic and amazing like theirs. My artwork, which at the time was colors smudged together hoping it would turn out to have resemblance as a horse. I also longed to be considered one of their friends. Even though my artwork was a sad excuse to be called “art” I continued to post my pieces on the forums for critique. I thought that the only way to grow and become like my art idols, I had to have critique. I accepted and followed the critique I received. In less than a year, I went from always relying on the smudge tool to not using it at all in my art. I went from just learning art to becoming, in some players’ eyes, one of the top digi artists.
Over the past two years I have made some amazing, lifelong friends on Ponybox.
• Diamond Springs Farm (AKA: Nutt) – Always there when I need her.
• Fox Crest Stables (AKA: Foxie) – Always there when I need help.
• Spectacular Bid Memorial (AKA Specky) – Like a sister to me.
• Artista – Always helps me with my dog questions
• Wanderin Boy Memorial (AKA Wandie) – My twin sister. ♥
• Rock Chick – A true friend.
• BlackAsh Manor (AKA: Mavis) – Always makes me laugh.
• Signature Farms – A true friend.
This is just a few of my friends that have touched and changed my life. My friends have helped me through so much and are always there when I need help or someone to talk to. They were there when I lost my dog of 9 years suddenly to cancer. They were there when I had struggles fitting in, in my life. They were there when I was in the process of getting another dog, a 5 year old coonhound named Rebecca Rose. They were there when I just needed a friend.
Now as I near my two year anniversary on Ponybox, I remember what Ponybox has done for me. There is so much I can say about Ponybox. It has made me a digital artist. It has given me some of the world’s greatest and smartest people to be my friends. It has helped me grow as a rider and individual. Ponybox is not just a SIM game. Deep down at the heart of the game, it is a community. It is a community of people from all around the world and walks of life who came together to share their love for horses. I have tried so many SIM games, all of which I eventually quit. Ponybox is one of kind and it is my “home.” |
