You worked all Summer to get that gorgeous, shiny coat on your horse and then comes Fall and cold weather. Snuggy Hoods has the answer to your question how to keep that shiny coat instead of dealing with winter woollies. These products not only help to keep coat short, but it can help horses with sweet itch during the troubling Summer months.
Snuggy Hoods have numerous colors and patterns to choose from. The hoods, rugs, head covers, and Snuggy Jams (hood/rug sets) come in two fabrics: fleece and Lycra.
The Turn Out Hood is made out of waterproof fabric, different from the typical fabric found on the market. All hoods have built in mane and shoulder savers, which means there is no rubbing.
The sweet itch hood/rug is made out of lightweight fabric with a design to cover as much as possible without hindering the horse's natural movement. The hood comes with ear cover and fly fringe; the rug with mane and shoulder saver, belly band, as well as tail guard and tail flap. It is also possible to get detachable extensions to the area between front legs and udder area. The udder extensions attaches to the standard bellyband on the front side and to the rear of the rug on the back side.

Technically it wouldn't keep the coat short....it would just keep it flat. Horses grow their winter coat because of the change in daylight..not, as commonly thought, the temperature.
