If you are like most horse lovers, you pay hard earned money for your horse themed novelty items, only to see them sell for next to nothing at your local tack sale. That equine themed cell phone holder you paid $60 for ends up as a worthless strap of leather two years later. The Breyer Christmas tree ornament that cost you $45 is only pulled out of the attic for a few weeks a year. These don't sound like smart financial decisions, especially in the middle of austerity in Europe and a recession in the U.S. But there just happens to be an equine gift that in most cases can be cashed in for more than you paid for it years down the road.
Silver coins have long been fun to collect, and over the past decade they have returned huge profits for their owners. If you ever are in need for some quick cash you can just walk to your local coin dealer, hand over the silver horse coin and in return you get cash. Check out the price of 1 troy ounce of silver over the past 12 years.
There are a few ways you can get your hands on some equine themed silver coins. The easiest is through your local coin dealer or Ebay. Below are some descriptions of horse themed silver coins I found on Ebay. These probably aren't the best examples as far as price, but you can see the variance of horse themed art you can get on silver coins. One important thing to keep in mind is that you want to buy .999 pure silver. Any price you pay for the coin over the current price of silver is called a premium. In most cases you will not get the premium amount back if you decide to sell it back to your local coin dealer. For example, today the price of 1 troy ounce of silver is $33. If the 1 oz coin you like on Ebay costs $50, then you are paying a $17 premium. If you have ever bought or sold a silver coin, or received one as a gift we would love to hear how you feel about this unique collectible.
