Kylie - A Year On
|
|
Its now been over a year since my number 1 horse got sold on Wednesday May 13th 2009. For those of you that just think “Oh it is just a horse” its actually more than just a horse. Imagine if your best horse on the yard got sold, how would it make you feel? It will make you feel sad, depressing, angry, annoyed and scared. That is exactly how I felt a year ago. But I can give you some tips:
1) I know its hard but try and focus on the new horse/pony you are riding. Whatever you do, do NOT give up riding just because of it because that will get you nowhere in life.
2) Think of the good times you both had together and don’t focus on the bad times.
3) Ask the yard owner if they know where he/she is and then you can go and visit her/him. If they don’t know, don’t worry because he/she should be in good hands.
4) Respect the horse/pony that got sold and keep lots of pictures, horseshoes, brushes and whatever you can ay your hands on of the horse/pony.
5) Finally, if your school horse/pony hasn’t got sold, be prepared for when it could happen because you can never know what is going to happen in the future so you will need to expect the unexpected .
Now I am going to tell you a true story about Kylie. A pony that did got sold unexpectedly:
I was with my friend Natasha telling her how good Kylie has been and that I couldn’t wait for her to see her. My mum was telling me to concentrate and think about what I was doing since I was only a beginner. When we got to the yard my riding instructor asked who I was riding. I said excitedly “I’m riding Kylie today”! My riding instructor replied “You will have to check at the desk about that! I thought that someone else was riding her today (which I didn’t mind as long as I got to see her. But I was wrong, when I got to the desk, this was what happened, my mum was putting her boots on over on the other side of the yard while I was booking in.
Desk: Hello, what’s your name and who are you riding today?
Me: My name is Megan and I’m riding Kylie today!
Desk: She’s not here right now. (My mum came back and stepped in)
Me And My mum: What!
My Mum: What do you mean she’s not here?
Desk: She got sold on Wednesday, we have put Megan on Dusty.
I was crying so much, I was even crying in the lesson. I got scared because I didn’t know what was going to happen to Kylie. So for those of you who are saying “Its only a horse, to me its more than that”!
All I have to say now is that you have to expect the unexpected. Good Luck.

Been there, recently, He was moved, not sold, but his owner never rode him. The only poeple who rode him were lesson kids or his leasee. She won so many blue ribbons on him, and was devestated when his owner moved, taking him with her.
