FBi Planner Let's You Design Your Barn Online for Free!
 By FloridaCowgirl   •   5th Sep 2011   •   16,505 views   •   7 comments
Horse Barn BuilderAre you thinking about building a new barn and want to make sure that it's exactly what you need? If so, FBi has a blueprint program that's a pretty cool tool to use and it covers all the bases for you. All you need is a general idea of what you want and a decent internet connection. In order to start building your barn, you'll need to have Adobe Flashplayer 1.115 or higher. The best part is that you don't have to download anything; you just click and the program opens in another window.

Getting Started
You have the option of choosing a pre-planned barn and making modifications to it or starting your own design from scratch. The pre-planned barns include a 12-stall barn with arena or a 36x48 four-stall barn. If you choose to design your own, you have total creative license regarding size, etc.

Build It!
If you choose a pre-planned barn, the program takes you to a blueprint of the barn that shows all of the dimensions, rooms, walls, etc and gives you tools to modify the barn however you'd like. If you choose to design your own barn the program gets a bit complicated because you have to insert your own walls, stalls, rooms and everything else, but after you play with it a bit, it gets easier.

Cool Features
In addition to being able to add walls, windows, stalls, arenas, etc, there's also a tool that allows you to place your equipment (tractor, boat, etc), built to scale, in the barn to make sure that it fits when you add the walls to the blueprint.

All in all, the barn-building tool is pretty cool but if you're going to use it, you should have a bit of skill using blueprint tools. If you don't, it's a little bit complicated to figure out. To access the building tool, follow the link and click on the FbiPlanner button and build away!

Hurricane Preparedness for Horses   29th Aug 2011   •   1561 views
Hurricane Preparedness for Horses This isn't the typical review that you're used to seeing from me, but given the fact that we're right in the middle of storm season, it seems more relevant than some of the other topics that were in the hopper. Horse owners have a special responsibility because unlike cats and dogs, you can't take your horses with you to a shelter or hotel. If you're plannin . . .
