That feeling of complete trust and synchronisation... Wow. I had almost forgotten... I love that little Polo horse of mine so, so much. Riding her today was... Wow.

3ft8 Upright These photos were taken by my mother yesterday, 28 March 2010. This was the third time I have jumped young Choc since the colic operation, and as you can see she was going brilliantly! This horse is just amazing... I love her so much. :) This jump was at the end of a line in the arena, hence the very sharp turn afterward. I also had the strides set quite short, since I am teaching my fluffy loon to collect. :P Silly thing likes to go around like a stick of dynamite! So, this last jump was 1,15m and she cleared it beautifully! :D
Thanks for viewing this! :D

Equestri 0_o For some reason, on every single server you're on, you get the most page views. I wonder why. Could it be because you're an amazing jumper, friend, crazy person, and great RPer? I don't know..

Retraining a Racehorse - Moonfire (Week 5) 370 views
The day of the show dawned not so bright and not so clear. In fact, there was a fair amount of wind and even a spot of rain. Still, I figured it was a good test for Moony, so I tacked him up and walked him down the road, since it was just a little local show, if a very well done one. Moony was a little tender on the road since h

Retraining a Racehorse - Moonfire (Week 4) 393 views
I began by free jumping Moony, working him until he was jumping decent height fences in good form and with loads of spring. We introduced a few spreads as well, and Moony popped over everything comfortably. Once I was satisfied that he was doing this well enough, I tacked him up and mounted. I started by giving Moony a short, li

Retraining a Racehorse - Moonfire (Week 3) 421 views
My instructor was around to help me with Moony, and we started by doing a bit of free jumping. She got him going extremely well, and he soon learned to jump on his own, without the help of a rider. As Moony is uncertain in our jumping ring, we simply jumped him in the round ring where he is currently being kept when not closely

Choosing a Horse 320 views
What would be the point of having that lovely skewbald if it is trained in barrel racing and you want to be dressage? Why get that first horse you see if you want to do showing and it has cow hocks and an ewe-neck? Would you thank yourself for getting that champion horse when you find that it’s just too fizzy for you, and throws

Escape 942 views
The man started groping in my pocket than, and I soon found myself screaming hysterically at him that I didn’t have anything for him. He motioned for me to be quiet, and though I knew it was useless, I yelled at him to let go of my horse, to release us. Needless to say, he did not. Instead, he tapped a finger to his lips before

Teach a Horse to Bend 535 views
In this article I shall be explaining in detail all the methods I have used to teach a horse to bend. Before I begin I wish to remind my readers that to try to follow these methods exactly step by step, or using any method without allowing flexibility, will seldom bring you success. A good trainer always rides by ‘feel’ meaning

Retraining a Racehorse - Moonfire (Week 2) 701 views
Before I begin, let me make something clear. These are my methods. Methods that have worked for me in the past as well as new methods that I have decided will work for Moony in the future. These methods might not work for every horse, in fact they probably won't, because Moony is uncharacteristically calm for a race horse, espec

Jumping My Polo Horse Bareback 801 views
This video shows myself and my Polo horse simply being ourselves and having a great time! Everything in this video is bareback, it is a complete no saddle zone! The only tack used is always either a bridle or a halter and lead rein. It also includes some of our more daring moments where I drop my reins and leave the little horse

5 June Showjumping Competition 383 views
On 05 June 2010 I attended a showjumping competition with my wonderful horses: Choc, Finola and Badger.
Choc was entered in the 1m classes. She completed her first trial round at 1m the previous weekend with just 1 pole down, so this time we were ready to step it up a notch. The little horse was phenomenal. Despite all the il

Boomerang Effect - The Story of Choc Chip 812 views
During the month of November in the year 2004, a miracle like no other took place. Into a world where each horse seemed nothing but a number, an amazing creature was born.
The place of her birth was a racing estate where the breeder, owner and trainer of all the horses were one and the same. He was a great man and he loved hi

29 May 2010 Showjumping Competition 525 views
On 29 May 2010, I attended a competition that was a major milestone in my showjumping career. On the morning 29 May 2010 at around 9AM, an 11-year-old Thoroughbred mare was to be seen leaping boldly around a course of 1,20m fences. This mare, of course, was Finola. For you to understand the full magnitude of that moment, I feel

May 16 2010 Showing Championships 511 views
On 16 May 2010, I entered my first ever showing competition on my horse, Bronze. Being an ignorant amateur, I went ahead and entered the Open Show Hunter class at the provincial championship as my first show. Well, I must admit that I got a bit of a shock when I realized just how ‘big’ everything was. It was not some casual litt

April 24th and 25th Two Day Event 511 views
On the weekend of 24 and 25 April, I attended a 2-day-event with my wonderful horses, Bronze and Badger. This was my first time eventing on Badger and my first time doing a Pre-Novice (90cm or 3ft) event on Bronze. Now, for those of you who do not know, eventing consists of three phases: Showjumping, Dressage and Cross Country.

Perfection has its flaws - The story of Polo 2006 views
This is the story of my horse, Polo. Yet it is not only about Polo, because you see her story is my story. In this day and age we often see things that have come to be known as 'fursonas', virtual creatures that Internet users have created to reflect their own personality.

From square one - The full story of Finola 1534 views
It all started toward the end of 2004, when I happened to be paging through a newspaper and came across a certain article: "Mares and foals for sale!" Typical of a young, horse crazy child, I ran to my mother and nagged my lungs out until the phone call was made. Thus it was decided: we were going to "See the cute little foals!”
