After a summer of begging my dad to get a Coggins done on my horse, we finally got one done last week. :DD
We went into the vets office thinking that a Coggins lasted for a full year.
Apparently they only last for 6 months.
So, since my dad dished out $100 for a test, he basically told me that if I didn't show as much as I could this summer, he would disown me. xD
I've done some research online trying to find any horse shows within the eastern ND/western MN area, but I really can't find anything. :/
I know of three groups in my area that have horse shows, although two of them have one or two shows left, neither of which I can go to. I do plan on going to the other group (RRVSC) to do some showing, since they still have three shows left.
I was wondering if anyone knew of any horse shows/groups within western MN that I can check out? Or if you knew any national groups that might possibly have some shows that I can look up?
My horse isn't papered though, so I can't do any breed association shows.
Just to give an idea of my location, I'm about a half-hour/45 min from the MN/ND border. So I can't show around Minneapolis, or anything crazy like that. xD
Thanks for any suggestions!

What part of mn? I'm in the west metro and
Still have loads of shows left depending what you
Wanna show.
Also coggins last 1 year, most people just want
Coggins that say the current year tho :)
Also look at WSCA on deck for show bills
That's for games and western classes.
If you have a Facebook, join Minnesota Horses
For tons of stuff horse related :) if you want more
Info or anything don't be shy to msg me.
I'm really looking for anything as far west as you can possibly get. I'm not sure how far my dad is willing to drive me, but I'm almost positive he won't want to drive for 3+ hours for a horse show.
Like, the horse show in Ada is about an hour and 15 minutes from me. And that's barely getting into MN.
I know tonight I'm going to have a serious talk with my dad about how far he's willing to go.
Even though I would love to do a lot of shows, it just costs so much to haul a horse somewhere. :/
As for what I would want to show, I'm really interested in showing western, since that's what I'm best at.
But I also started doing english, so I really wouldn't mind doing either. :)
So coggins does last one year then? Wow. Our vets lied to us. xD
That's what my dad and I thought when we went.
When they said it only lasted 6 months, we were like O___________O
I'll definitely have a look at the WSCA and Minnesota Horses on facebook.
Thanks for all the help! :D
WSCA is your best bet! Join a club,
And you can go to the champ show if you qualify
at the state fair :) I'm part of the Pony Pals which
Is the only free one. Really too late in the season to
qualify for champ show.
Also, I think you might wanna look into a new vet,
I just looked at how much I paid for a coggins and it was
$20 o.O good luck :)
