My New Car Possibly? Opinions Needed! RL 268 views  •   2694 days ago

Id love your opinion on my possibly new car.

I went to see the owner of JMJ Auto today - a lot of family has bought vehicles from him. His name sounding it out is La - Ole But I have no clue of the spelling for it.
Anyways being that im not 18 someone else would have to sign for my car which if anyone did it'd be my Great Grandpa Kenny. He signed for my Grandmas car from the same lot because she has horrible credit. But my mom and step dad have also bought cars from him so he knows who I am already.

If Kenny signed my down payment would be $1,200- 1,500 depending on what I can afford. The monthly payments would be $230 a month. With my insurance it totals out to be $334 - I only have to pay half of my $207 bill insurance luckily. I make a tad bit over $600 a month so that still leaves me with 200+ a month for gas and whatever else I need. I dont pay rent or anything since I live with my grandma and only have a 40 phone bill. In November ill be making more money from then on out and I work almost full time durring the summer. Right around 36-42 hours a week. So I can afford the car.
ONLY HITCH - I need to go ask tomorrow if Kenny can be taken off the lease in november and just have me on there since I can actually have it in my name. If there are some options there where he can be taken off in a matter of time and the payments down change a lot then its more than likely that Ill be getting it next month. If we cant take him off and or the payments go sky high I wont be getting the car.

What is the total price of the car? That seems a bit steep for a 2010 Ford Focus. My dad just bought a brand new, off the lot 2013 Ford Focus and it only cost $14,000 total and the payments are only $210 a month.

The Focus's are nice cars. I would recommend them :D

I'm from the UK, don't understand how much your car would be in our currency :/
But..
I just paid 3800 for my new one
It's a 2007 with 32,000 miles on it

Remember, car loans are typically 5yr loans. Make sure that you have enough job security that you won't get in hot water a few years down the line. But the car is pretty reliable and is a good car to grow up with. Just be sure you'll be ok job wise for 5yrs and pay off extra whenever you can afford it.

Focuses are cute cars. I would just be sure to keep updated on the maintenance. My uncle use to have a Ford Focus and his seemed to always have something wrong with it. It would always be in the shop for something. But, he rarely ever took it in just for regular maintenance so those problems could of happened just because of that. The newer ones look pretty nice though and they are probably more reliable. I would look up stuff like that before you buy it. :)
