She may just be getting used to it. My horse always chewed on his bit but that was because it had copper on it and tasted different.
That's just a thought,

Honestly, I prefer wonder gags. My barrel horse is a psycho path and has zero brakes. I run her in a wonder gag and my previous barrel horse I had in just a simple three ring elevator with my reins on the last and weakest ring.
No one can really judge without riding your horse but I played with many bits before I found one my horses liked.
Now when I ride her english, shes in a simple french link eggbutt with a french link.

I thought about getting a wonder gag but many people advised me against them. I don't want to keep spending money on bits. She listens so well in this bit so it's frustrating.
It's a twisted wire with dog born mouth piece so maybe she is just getting used to it. Hoping that's it.
Thanks guys!

I hate twisted wires. They're too thin and put too much pressure on my mares mouth. She gets angry with them haha. Check out Western Tack Trader on facebook. I picked mine up for $15 shipped used on there.
What size is she? I mihht even have an extra I could part with cheap.
The wonder gag is the only bit that my mare is able to be safely ridden when I barrel race.

When adjusting horses to new bits, each horse is different. If they tend to chew on them a bunch, I will leave the bit on them all day. Either tie them up or put them in a dry lot with just water. And make sure to take the reins off 😉
