I logged on this afternoon, went to have a look at what the foaling fairies had provided and then out of curiosity went to have a look at DLA Barney The Bear's foals only to find that quite a few had been put up for sale, already at the age of 0, for 100k when his stud fee is/was 50k.
Now I must just stress that I completely hold my hands up and understand this was my fault. I shouldn't have had him at such a low stud fee and of course if I have him at that and people breed to him their foals are their foals and they can do what they like with them, obviously, and so I am 110% not making this post to slate, offend or complain about those people, as for all I know, they might have just bred to him, had too many foals and put them up for sale at a price that was reasonable for their amazing lines, I completely understand that and if anyone who has done this reads this post please understand I am not annoyed at you at all, please please understand that. I just wanted to make this post just to share my experience as this scenario had never even crossed my mind, I just put him at that stud fee so he was accessible if anyone wanted to use him but assumed they wouldn't as most of my studs never get bred too. I would just remind people, if this kind of scenario bothers you, I know for some of you it will not concern you in slightest, but for smaller players like me who barely have 1 mill ponybucks this kind of scenario I wouldn't say annoys me but just makes me feel a bit silly I guess.
I don't know how this post is going to be recieved and wether I'm going to just get loads of comments saying that it's a silly thing to even be bothered about. This isn't meant to be a rant but more of me just sharing my experience for anyone else that may be the same as me. Just think about your stud fees I guess haha!
I hope I haven't offended anyone that was not my intention Dinky

Yeah it happens people do that really if there up for 100k there only gaining 50k.
But i completly understand how you feel thats normally how it goes .
If someone breeds to the stud they normally sale the foals they dont like or need for a price to make some pbs off it.
We have all had this happen, Dinky, you are not alone! I do understand where you are coming from.
I have learned, before I put my rare-lined-stallions up for stud for others, do it by reserve, for one foal, for one player, at a time.
This happened to me with my "Vinnie" and "Venom" lines and now they are all over and I am having problems finding studs to mix in that line.
Thanks the both of you, I was quite happy with leaving it at 100k but after literally just discovering someone was selling a foal for 500k I have had no choice but to put it at 250k. I'm hoping this will solve the problem otherwise breed restriction may be the way forward unfortunately... I have brought all the foals I could see were for sale as I just desperately don't want his lines getting used in the wrong way. I guess I'm foolish, I thought that it would be nice to give people the opportunity to breed to him as he's a great horse, and as previously stated I didn't even think people would be interested...
Yeah that's fine just let me know if you are interested I would be happy to sell you even a couple if you wish, I now have 9 foals from him all 0yo's lol - I don't mind the higher prices if that's what there worth you just feel a little mugged off when the stud fee is so low
Im neutral in this but I can see both sides, I mean there are some people who get way to carried away like breeding 50 to 60 foals every breeding day and filling the sales pages with them. I may breed to a stud several times, but I try to get good active dna foals that are super prospects, the other ones are retired until I'm ready to sell. But I really like her bloodlines and I'm grateful for the opportunity that they are put up for sale. It gives me a chance to add a few more lines to my stock if one looks nice. There are a handful of barns I check every foaling day for foals for sale bc they have such good bloodlines and I much prefer it rather than a bidding war on the forums and sometimes I feel like i'm bothersome constantly messaging people for foal reservations. I just know before I breed to stud I have learned to check the description and the barn page for do's and donts. I've accidentally messed up and bred to a stallion that wasn't up for the public, but it was way more than 1pb so I thought he was okay to breed too. But I messaged the owner after foaling day and made sure everything was okay.
The only thing I will say yes the stud fee was 50k but the breeders mare may be worth the other 50k hence the horse being 100k. Sometimes people want a specific gender over others and if they have to many they will sell the foals on.
Also as with stud fees and selling horses to cheap attract the members that like to linebred and crossbreed and make a whole nice breed go to disappointment so another reason why the foals will be a little higher priced.
