Name: Amber Woodford
Age: 23
Gender: Female
Personality: Incredibly shy & introverted, but warm, bubbly, and glass-half-full. Once she warms up to a person, she can be quite quirky & goofy. Some might see her shyness & non-stop giddiness as being spineless & naïve, but she can be very stubborn, hold fast to her morals, and speak out when something is not right. She is aware of the realities of the world, but chooses to see the bright side. She’s been riding for a long time, but knows that wisdom can always be gleaned.
Appearance: Average height of 5’6”, is a little on the curvy side but still has abs & a toned body. A nice tan from the sun. Medium-length layered hair, somewhat of a complex color. Towards the ends it’s a reddish brown, like rich cherry wood, but at her roots are highlights of strawberry blonde, bleached from the sun. She has large, blue-green eyes and a somewhat round & youthful face that makes her still look like she’s about 16.
Horse Form:
Age: 7
Gender: Stallion
Main Discipline: Eventing
Personality: Can get nervous, but is quite mellow. Isn’t aggressive; he likes to train & do a good job. He’s quite used to being around a number of different horses since he’s been on the show circuit for a number of years. Many would consider him to be a handful because of his nerves & strength, but when he trusts someone he can be quite calm.
Appearance: 15.2HH Abaco Barb. Most of his body is brown, with exception of a big white splotch on his side, four white stockings, and a half-bald face. Black mane and tail with light icy blue eyes. He’s got some mass on him, like a Quarter Horse, but that is balanced with some leanness, like a Thoroughbred or Arabian.

{I just realized that this post was from over 100 days ago LOL so I’m gonna start!}
Hesitantly, Amber opened the passenger door of the pickup and jumped out. The grounds for the academy were way, way bigger than she had expected. Before closing the door to the truck, she remarked to her dad, “The sing says check-in here, so I’m going to believe it.” She flicked the door shut, and walked around the trailer to the other side. “You doing ok, there, handsome?” she asked softly & musically. Amber stepped up onto the ledge of the trailer & peered into it. She was met with nervous breathing and uneasy ears from a very conflicted stallion. “Eeeeeeasy, boy. It’s okay. There’s nothing to be afraid of.” (In a way, the words that were coming from her mouth were more intended for herself.) Taking a deep breath, she hopped back down onto solid ground, and began walking to a very large & impressive hall. Above the door hung a large sign that read “Students Check-In Here”. Amber’s head was beating so fast that it felt like it was going to fly right out of her chest. The sound of her scraggly “bumming around” cowboy boots sounded louder than normal as she walked across the seemingly never-ending span of gravel. She looked kinda scraggly herself, at the moment. She wore some simple blue jeans with a blush pink clearly-has-worn-this-while-doing-barn-chores shirt. Her reddish hair was up in a messy bun & she did not have a lick of makeup on. She’d decided to dress comfortably and functionally, for the trip to get here was a long one. Tiredness mixed with nerves. But her large, expressive eyes, though timid, were wide with excitement & anticipation for whatever was going to unfold at Bo Brook’s Elite Riding Academy.

Name: Dani Emberson
Age: 25
Gender: Male
Personality: Quiet and observant. Friendly but not outgoing. TBD...
Appearance: 5'9, 190 pounds. Latin decent. Black hair, hazel eyes, olive tanned skin.
Horse Form: Leo
Age: 6
Gender: gelding
Main Discipline: Cutting. Roping when the chance arises
Personality: Quiet on the ground. A big puppy really. Under saddle he gets serious about his job but is also known to spook at random things
Appearance: Dunskin with 4 black socks. Black tail and black mane with white at the Crest. Black tipped ears. Stands 14.2hh, built like a tank. Heavy at 1300 pounds.
The gravel noisily rolled under the tires of a beat up, 1997 dodge ram pickup with a big red stock trailer trudging along behind. As Dani pulled the truck into the dirt lot, alongside another trailer, he sighed as nervousness swept over him. The drive had been uneventful, carefree even. That was until he rolled into this grand ranch. Dani sat in the truck for a few minuets, trying to get the courage to make this new venture. He had never had to do anything like this before. Dani had hit a rough spot in his life, and thought doing something out of the ordinary was something he needed to get out of his funk and get to where he wanted to be with a career of cutting. As he sat thinking about the events leading up to this journey, sudden pawing from the trailer snapped him out of it. Leo was wanting out, but Dani still had to figure out where to check in.
Stepping out from the dirty dodge, Dani slipped his black, worn out boots on. He never drove with boots on, and he didnt own regular shoes. As he walked to the back of the trailer, he paused to reached inside to pat Leo.
"I'll get you out as soon as I have a place to put you, big man." He affectionately said to the gelding.
Dani looked towards the nearest building. Thankfully, there was a student check in sign right at the entrance, and just inside, a woman stood in the isle. Pulling his pants up and checking himself over, he started the short walk towards the building.
"Hello." He said as he neared the woman.

(Wow, gosh, sorry for all the typos lol)
“Ok, thank you!” Amber said as she grabbed a big packet of information that was being handed to her.
Two staff members, a man and a woman, smiled and nodded from across the white check-in table.
Just before she turned around to head back out to Winter and her father, she heard a “hello” from behind her.
She had been so intently focused on all the details that were being thrown at her that she hadn’t even heard the second truck & trailer pull up, let alone someone approaching.
Slightly startled, she half-turned to see who had spoken, and who those words were intended for.
Her expressive, sparkling eyes were illuminated by the beams of sunlight pouring through the open doorway.
Her mouth was ever-so-slightly in an “oh..!..?” shape, unable to fully conceal the fact that she had been startled.
Her gaze found a tall man behind her. Her unadjusted eyes couldn’t quite make out his features, yet, as he was so harshly silhouetted by the light behind him.
She couldn’t see where he was looking, either, so she still was unsure of who the “hello” was intended for.
Her expression shifted and she gave a half smile. She paused, and decided so give a warm “hi!” back.

(No worries. It's been like 10 years and I suck lol)
As Dani walked into the office, he quickly realized he had startled the people in the room, but was greeted nonetheless. He gave a warm smile, making sure to make eye contact with everyone in the room.
"I'm Dani." He said, again sweeping the audience. A man and woman stood behind a desk, who Dani assumed were the staff. They smiled and began giving Dani a layout of the academy, assigning him and room and stall for Leo, who was beginning to paw again.
"Thank you very much. I will get settled in right away." Dani shyly said, turning and walking from the room, relieved to not be in close proximity to strangers once again.
Walking back to the trailer, Dani unlatched the ramp and set it down with a puff of dust from the soil. Stepping inside now, Dani unlatched the butt chain and walked in towards Leo. The gelding nickered a gentle greeting, as he always did, and quietly walked out and down the ramp. Once outside, Leo pricked his ears and stood erect, taking in his new surroundings. Horses from the barn called to him, and he answered back with a swish of his tail and a half rear. Dani ignored the geldings anticipated, but controlled, antics, and raised the ramp once again, securing it in place.
The stout gelding jigged next to Dani as they approached a near by round pen. Dani wanted the gelding to get some energy out before stabbing him. Unhooking his halter, Dani stepped out of the round pen before the gelding tucked his head and spun around, kicking his heels up in one motion.
Dust flew as the dunskin did a few laps, calling out to the other horses. Sliding to a stop, Leo bucked in place and then made his way to the middle of the sandy pen, laying down and rolling. He did this a few times, kicking his heels up every time he stood again. After about 15 minutes of this play, Leo snorted and shook out, and walked to the gate quietly.
"You done now, Hoss?" Dani lovingly cooed, smoothing Leo's mane back in place.
Leo nickered softly again as Dani opened the gate and put the halter back on.

(Ahahaha xD)
As Amber's eyes adjusted to this stranger, she noticed that he was making eye contact with her.
As his gaze shifted to the two workers, she stepped to the side and learned that his name was Dani. As the workers began their brief spiel, she slipped out quietly. Seemed kinda awkward to just stand there and listen to him receive the information.
She hadn't rally noticed much about him, since she slipped out so quicily. Other than his lovely, captivating hazel eyes, of course. And that he was a bit taller than her and seemed to be about her age.
"I guess I'll be seeing him around," she thought to herself.
As Amber approached the trailer, she heard Winter let out a long snort.
"It's ok, buddy. This is a safe place. Nothing to be scared of," she said in a soothing, sing-song-y voice.
Her father stepped out of the truck.
"Winter's barn is just right over there," she said, pointing to a large barn with a round pen just outside.
"I'm going to put Winter in his stall so he can get used to the smells. I'll come help you finish unloading, and then you're good to go! And I'll let him run some crazy off in the pen," she said with a little laugh.
Her dad laughed, too, and walked to the tack room of the trailer & began to unload.
As she opened the two swinging doors of the trailer, Winter began to paw and snort.
"It's ok," she whispered.
At her voice, he immediately took his nervousness down a notch.
She crawled under the angled partition, untied his leadrope, and opened the divider. There was enough room for him to turn around, so they hopped down together, facing forward.
As they walked to the large barn, the average-sized stallion was in rare form (though nothing Amber wasn't used to). He trotted violently in place, his neck extended so high that he looked quite a bit taller than he was. His blue eyes flitted about, his nostrils flared, his almost completely brown body was covered in a shiny layer of sweat.
Upon entering the barn, Winter calmed down a bit. "Theeeere ya go, that's right. Just another barn. Nothing scary."
They arrived at his stall, and she walked the young stud in. He was already starting to settle, just with the comfort of a homey stall.
She took off his halter, and slid the stall door closed as she exited.
As she started walking back to her truck, she noticed that there were a fair number of horses already there. "Everyone else must already be in their housing..?" she thought.
On her approach to her trailer, she noticed that a horse was now racing around the pen, with someone watching. It was a gorgeous dunskin. She found herself smiling as she saw the horse drop to its knees and violently roll.
"I've got tack and Winter's supplies all in this wheelbarrow." Amber's father stepped out of the tack room, closed the door, and locked it up. "If you want, I can drive around and unload YOUR stuff at wherever you're staying while you put tack away in the barn." Amber's eyes lit up: "Oh that would be awesome!!! Here, I'll give you the info packet-" she said, handing it to her dad "-and that way you have directions to where I'm staying. And you can just leave it with my stuff."
She gave him a hug.
"Thank you so much for all of your help. It rally means a lot."
She waved as the rig drove off. Once it had traveled a ways, she turned & began walking the very full wheelbarrow to the barn. She noticed that the horse in the pen was now haltered, and the person was leading it out.
"Oh...that's the person - Dani - from the office," she thought to herself.
She didn't realize it, but she was staring.
Subconsciously she was noticing the young man's build, and the way he was interacting with the horse.
Her thoughts flickered, for a second, to the type of impression he had made in the office. Making everyone feel seen...

Halter on, Dani turned and started towards the barn. As he looked up, he caught the glimmering eyes of the young lady in the office earlier. She had been watching him. Had his skin been a lighter shade, his blush may have been apparent. He smiled shyly, flashing his white teeth just briefly before walking past her, Leo in tow, head down. Once inside the barn, Dani breathed a long sigh and gathered his thoughts.
"Stall 16.." he mumbled to himself, scanning the stall numbers as he made his was down the isle.
Finally he came to number 16. Dani noted another horse down a few stalls, the horses bald face peering over the stall door. Leo paused and watched this other horse briefly, before sighing and nudging Dani's arm.
"Alright Big Man. Let's get you fed and bedded down." Dani smiled, stepping aside and motioning for Leo to step through. His size was massive, barely having an inch on each side to clear the stall door. As Leo instinctively turned to face Dani again, Dani stepped inside the stall. Reaching down, dani ran his hands over all four legs, checking for any heat or bumps. All clear. Halter removed, Dani shit the stall and latched it.
"I'll be right back with your dinner." He said, turning and heading back to the trailer.

Asteria glanced into the rearview mirror as the trailer tires hit the gravel just in time to watch the mare pick up her head and snort disapprovingly. few people knew that despite her calm exterior Hecate was not the biggest fan of the sound the gravel made as it crunched under all of the tires needless to say she was visibly uncomfortable. She looked back ahead of her to read a big sign with the Academy name on it.
"Bo Brook's Academy..." She took a deep breath and squealed quietly in her brothers 2017 Dodge Ram Cummins. He looked around and found a spot that looked like it would be shaded. Alegzander finally looked up from the road and looked at her his eyes scanning her closely for a second.
"You ready short stack?" he said affectionately to her. She looked at him and rolled her eyes before flinging the door open and jumping down to the gravel below her.
"Someone's excited." he said decently loud so she could hear. He opened his door as she shut hers. Stepping out of the truck they both walked to their respective horses and reached inside the trailer to give them a couple pats. They then made their way to the student check in desk trying to focus on just getting it over with. They both looked at each other before talking to both of the academy directors on where they would be staying thankfully they didn't get put in any room together. Their horses however were in stalls 18 and 19 so they got to be close. After they were done they decided to head to their trailer. Not paying attention Asteria bumps into Dani the slight impact causing her to stumble a bit then catch herself. She fumbled around with her shirt for a second before she looked up. as she looked up she could feel her face heating up as her cheeks turned bright red she quickly spoke up before anything was said.
"I am so sorry I wasn't paying attention to where I was going are you okay I am so so sorry." She looked down as quickly as she finished her sentence. Alex stood there aloof and unsure of what had just happened and why his sister was acting so strange.

Amber watched as Dani led his horse into the barn.
As she walked past stall 16, she saw Dani feeling the horse's legs.
"Wow...that is a MASSIVE horse..." she thought.
She let out a sigh as she set the wheelbarrow down outside of stall 20.
Winter Sun gave a whisper of a nicker at her arrival.
She smiled broadly, "Aw, hi, my boy!"
She stroked his nose. "You'll get some friends here, soon. Don't you worry."
A commotion near the barn's entrance grabbed Amber's attention, and she retracted her hand as she shifted her gaze.
She heard a lot of "I'm sorry"s, and saw with body language that something had happened.
"Hm, I wonder if these are new students arriving?" Her face showed the thoughts in her head. Her right eyebrow was slightly raised, and her lips were slightly pursed together.
She paused, but then turned back to the task at hand.
She unloaded bedding and a bag of feed, but left her tack as she was going to wheel it to the barn's tack room.
"Boy, I sure am glad this place is providing hay. And the automatic waterers are a dream." She said this mostly to herself, but also kind of to Winter. She liked to tell him everything.

Just as Dani latched the stall and turned, a sudden impact made him stumble backwards into the wall with a huff.
"Whoa..." he mumbled, just before a flow of apologies came from a brunette woman.
"Its alright." Dani assured, locking eyes with her bright green eyes.
(Leaving this short. So, so tired lol. Also, I uploaded some pics of my horse as reference. Idk how you'd view them though lol)

Embarrassed Asteria pushed her hair back before looking back at whom she had just ran into. She looked up cheeks bright red and out a quiet sigh of relief. She looked at him a slight worried look crossed her face as Alex held out his hand to Dani.
"You okay man? Sorry about her she cant see where shes goin half the time because she clearly likes the ground." He jokingly said before nudging his sister earning a grumble.
"We were just on our way to check out the stalls we were assigned since my girl isn't quite into being stabled." She said her voice quiet.
"I'm Sorry again for bumping into you." She looked up at him the sun glinting in her eyes. Alegzander turned and waved at them both before walking towards their trailer. As he got closer Hecate and Cronus both whinnied and bumped the side of the trailer. He lowered the ramp and opened the trailer gate untying their lead roped he grabbed them both and held them as he closed up the trailer. Hecate pulled on her lead rope hard enough for it to slip from Alegzanders hand he tried to grab it but she had already started making her way toward Asteria.

(Ah. If you go to my barn, the picture is there)
"Yeah, I'm good." Dani replied, reaching out and shaking the man's hand.
"It's alright, I'm fine." He said with a soft smile.
As they walked to their trailer, Dani took the chance to wander around the barn. Walking past the first girl, who he hadn't caught the name of, he smiled at her and kept going. Finding the tack room, Dani stepped inside and found a decent sized room that already had a variety of tack within. Then he noticed the numbers above each saddle rack, 1-30. He found number 16 and began dusting the area with a rag that hung nearby. When it was dusted to satisfaction, Dani left the tack room and continued to the back of the barn. Almost to that stalls, Dani noticed an indoor wash rack to his right.
'Splendid!' Dani thought. 'Always nice to wash in any weather.'
Exiting the back of the barn, there was a stairwell to either side of the building, with a sign on the wall that read "rooms" with an arrow pointing up the stairs. Dani hadn't grabbed his bags yet, so he turned and went back into barn, walking to his truck now to fetch his belongings.

(Ooh, those pictures are great! I especially like the one of the water bottle in his mouth, heehee xD)
Amber glanced up and saw Dani passing by. He gave her a pleasant smile, and she smiled back.
After getting Winter settled with his bedding and evening feed, Amber picked up the wheelbarrow and began walking in the direction of the tack room. She realized that Dani had probably been checking that room out as well.
As she entered, she found a rack with the number 20 on it. She grabbed her dressage saddle, and hefted it up onto the rack.
She then grabbed a saddle stand from the ‘barrow, set it underneath the rack, and placed her jumping saddle on that. On the opposite wall, she saw a row of bridle racks and placed both of Winter’s bridles on the one that was marked with 20, just like the saddle racks.
She continued to unload things from the wheelbarrow and set them in their respective places around the room until everything was out of it. She wheeled the empty ‘barrow out of the room. “I wonder where I should put this,” she thought.
She glanced to her left toward the other end of the barn, and glorious orange light steamed in from the setting sun.
She walked down the aisle towards the breathing light, passing a wash rack, and found other wheelbarrows parked by the exit. She parked hers in the group.
She stood in the doorway for a moment, taking deep breaths and drinking up the glorious sunset. A wave of peace & calm washed over her. She suddenly felt very confident - like she was 100% ready to meet new people.
She backed up a few steps, about to turn around, when she noticed a stairwell to her right. She glanced to her left and saw one there as well. “Rooms,” she said softly, reading the signs aloud.
“I should probably get myself settled-“ Her thought got cut off as another entered her mind.
“Oh gosh, I should probably check the schedule! I bet there’s some sort of meet & greet coming up soon.”
She climbed the stairs, and found her stuff piled next to and on a raised canopy-like mat that was her bed. It matched the 29 others.
It wasn’t very glamorous, but it definitely beat sleeping on the floor.
“As usual, the horses have it better than the humans,” she laughed to herself.

Gathering his bags from the truck, Dani set them on the ground as he double checked that he had everything.
'Dont want to make multiple trips.' He thought. He almost forgot his cowboy hat, a tan Stetson with a white brow and brown and white hawk feather on the right side. Placing it on his head, he grabbed his keys and locked his truck, shutting the door behind him. He grabbed his bags, now walking to the tack room of the trailer. Setting the bags down again, he opened the tack door and fished out Leo's bozal, putting it over his shoulder. Dani then grabbed a blue and white saddle pad, putting that under his arm, and then drug his heavy wade saddle into a position he could grab it easier. Grabbing his bags in his left hand, that also held the saddle pad under that arm, he hoisted the saddle up and being his back with his right arm. Kicking the tack room door closed, he quickly and carefully headed back to the barn and to the tack room.
At the tack room door, he let go of his bags and pushed the door open, heading for his saddle rack. Putting the tan and silver saddle onto the rack, he put the saddle pad ontop. Turning, he found his spot on the bridal rack and set the bozal there. Finished, he grabbed his bags and shut the tack room door, heading for his room now.

Asteria smiled as Hecate ran to her the mare couldn't help but run a little funny as she held her head as high as she could so she wasn't dragging her lead rope. She circled around Asteria and whinnied like a foal throwing her head up in excitement to just be outside and by her person. Asteria grabbed hold of the lead rope as Hecate got down for her to be able to mount her easier. As she swung her leg over the mare she smirked though she got to do it all the time it was her favorite way to ride she found saddles only really worked when riding for competitions or shows. Alegzander led Cronus along with him the Stallion nudged him and shook his mane at the mares antics he then snorted and continued about his business. Alex led him to his stall and proceeded to give him a brush down. "Lets get this done so you can relax buddy." The stallion nodded in agreement.
Asteria and Hecate proceeded to go on a bit of a tour around the grounds for a night ride. The mare knickered and began to trot in a circle before finally straightening out to Asterias wishes.

Amber saw her packet on her bed. She grabbed it, and pulled out the bright green sheet that said ‘Camp Schedule’.
“Let’s see... ‘Welcome Session’ from 8:00-9:00PM,” she said aloud.
She checked her watch. “7:45. Probably should start making my way over..to...wherever it is...” she muttered, trailing off as she consulted the green sheet once again.

Climbing the stairs, he paused to turn around and check out the view. An arena was just beyond the barn, with paddocks on each side, with an isle between them. Beyond the outdoor arena, was an indoor arena. From his position he could see inside the big double doors, and could just barely see that the other end had doors aswell. To the right of the indoor arena was another pasture with calves. Dani could hardly wait to start working Leo on cows again.
The sun was setting now, and checking his phone he found it to be later than he thought. He remembered the spiel about a meet and greet, and turned back to head to his room, which was also 16. Heading there, he passed the woman from before. Her back was to him, and he stole a glance her way before disappearing before she had a chance to turn around. Because of the layout of the rooms, he was almost directly across from her. He opened the door and stepped inside.
Finding a modest cot with a small blanket folded neatly ontop, Dani set his bag beside the bed. He sat on the bed, and found something to be uncomfortable. Reaching behind him, he remembered he had stuck the info packet in his back pocket. He flipped through it quickly, then checked the time again.
"Oh crap, almost 8." He mumbled to himself, standing and going back out the door, kicking it shut behind him. The meeting was in the barn, by the office.

"Location...barn-"
Amber thought she heard a noise behind her, and turned to look. She didn't see anyone, but saw the door to the room practically across from hers was now open.
She tucked the green paper back into the packet, and exited her room.
As she did so, she saw Dani in the hallway, kicking his door closed.
Her eyes lit up, "Hi!"
She flashed him her white teeth in a broad smile.
"Uh, Dani, right?"
She absent-mindedly tucked her left hand into her front left pocket.
"I was just briefly in the office, earlier!- when you were checking in, and I heard you mention your name."
She suddenly got a little nervous, her eyes becoming slightly larger, and her brows furrowing a tad.
"Oh, uh, it is Dani, right?" She gave him a sheepish half-smile, her mouth closed this time.
She took her hand out of her pocket, and tucked some stray reddish-brown hairs behind her ear.
Her [dirty] hair was pulled back into an extremely messy high ponytail. It currently only looked like a dark reddish brown, with no strawberry blonde highlights, because of the lighting. And because of how desperately she needed to wash her hair.
Still, she somehow looked put-together despite her somewhat messy & tired appearance.
Rarely did her face ever show her exhaustion.

As Dani exited his room, he saw the woman again, now speaking to him. He couldn't help but notice her beautiful white teeth.
"Yes, I'm Dani." He answered, smiling back at her as he paused at the stairs, leaning against the railing.
"I didnt catch your name, though." Dani said, reaching out with his right hand to greet her.

She nodded her head to his affirmation.
Her heartbeat slowed a bit, relieved that she hadn't made a fool of herself.
As Dani leaned against the railing, taking a rather relaxed posture, Amber felt herself calm down a bit more.
"Amber," she said, flashing her bright smile once more & taking the hand that had been extended to her.
Her dad had always taught her that a firm handshake communicates confidence, even when one doesn't feel it. It takes a lot of people by surprise, getting such a firm handshake from a rather feminine looking girl, but it's still well-received, she's found.
Her small, slender hand firmly clasped Dani's, which, she noticed, was much larger, stronger, and rougher than hers.
In this moment, she took the time to look Dani in the eyes, and to quickly take in some more features of his face.
She couldn't help but notice how bright and complex his hazel eyes looked against his dark, olive skin.

Her firm handshake surprised him, and he couldn't help but smirk.
"Well, nice to finally meet you, Amber." Dani said, smiling more now as he held her gaze. Almost reluctantly, he let her hand go. Her soft skin was a comfort against his calloused hands. He shuffled, running his left hand over the back of his neck nervously.
"Shall we go downstairs to this meet and greet?" He asked, motioning her down the stairs before himself.

Amber noticed Dani shook her hand a bit longer than what she would consider to be a normal handshake.
At his response, her eyes squinted a bit to mimic the smile on her face. She noticed that he had a very nice, charming smile.
As he held her hand for a second longer, she found her hand softening in his. And his gaze...it was as though he was on the edge of venturing deeper...
He dropped her hand, and quite obviously was recollecting himself.
Amber was tan..but not tan enough to hide a blush.
She cleared her throat and, nervously finding something to do, she tucked the few flyaways behind her left ear again.
She glanced at the ground, her heart suddenly pounding in her chest.
At Dani's voice & gesture, she looked up at him once more.
"Sure," she replied as calmly as she could.
Making eye contact with him suddenly felt like too much..but she also found herself desiring it strongly.
She glanced to the stairs, and as she walked by him and his outstretched arm, gave a soft "thank you" in reference to allowing her to go first.
The loud squeaks of the stairs were like music to her ears. No awkward silence, at least for a few seconds.

Her fidgeting kept the smirk on his face all the way down the stairs. It had been a long time since he had been looked at the way she looked at him, and it made him feel good again. The last few years had been hard on him, and just briefly he felt something other than depression.
Following her down the stairs, he walked beside her, though not too close, as they made their way through the barn towards the small crowd.
