I’m lucky to still have a job and that my company is allowing me to work from home... but that also means I don’t really leave my apartment and I’m on week 2 of this and i am already going crazy.
I see a complete lockdown in our future here in my state.

I just started a placement yesterday at one of the major hospitals for Covid patients in my state. Just for context, I am a final year nursing student in Australia.
My ward is right next door to the Covid ward. In fact we share a hallway that is separated with a big double door. The door also has glass windows so you can see straight into their area. It was pretty freaky to be able to see the nurses all gowned and masked up so close. Also pretty surreal to be that close to the virus considering the disruption and destruction the virus has caused all over the world. At the same time we also have patients on my ward who are pending Covid test results (they can only enter the Covid ward after a positive result)... I will be very lucky if I do not catch it whilst on placement!

Closeby - yes, 2 people that I am aware of have tested positive in our local hospital 15 minutes away and 8 in another local hospital 25 minutes away.
2 cousins and an aunt in the UK have coronavirus.
While I think the media is creating a lot of panic and fear, and probably over exaggerating a lot, I do think it is really serious too. My nan just died and had to be in the theatre recovery room with other patients because the ICU was full of coronavirus patients. Normally patients passing over would be in a private room, surrounded by their loved ones but only a couple of immediate family members were allowed to see her as she passed over - not a lot of time allowed to be spent with her :(
My 1 year old daughter and I are not going anywhere but grocery shopping once a week - from this week though, I will keep her in the car with my partner while I do the shopping. They have taken the trolley seats out of the trolleys which is a huge pain but understandable! My partner is still working, I am thankful he can for the next week or so at least. He is not going elsewhere though.

We just had non-essential business shut down. That kills my riding program but I still have to go care for the horses. I can ride at least, but my income is taking a hit for sure. Luckily my mother is classed as essential (I live with her and my grandmother) so if Im a bit back on bills its alright. and lots of our various services (internet, power, etc) have put out notices that they wont disconnect anyone who gets behind. Its really interesting to see how much some of the companies are doing to help out. Pretty surprising actually.

Meeting here today hopefully they put us in full lock down too.
So many foolish people flocking to the beaches and park walks etc way more then you usually get. Kids still meeting in groups!
Surprisingly my kids are being pretty good and we're doing some homeschooling to keep motivated, my husbands at work 2 or 3 days still for now may change after this meeting.

New Zealand will officially be in lockdown as of 11:59pm on Wednesday. All non-essential stores are closed.
BUT my boss is apparently labouring under the delusion that because we're counted as a primary industry business (animal welfare grounds, I work on a horse stud) and we're allowed to keep operating by the government as an "essential service", that translates to him as "just send the oldies home, we'll keep doing all our normal, unnecessary jobs with a reduced staff shouldering twice the workload".
Unfortunately, we're not going to stand for that and tomorrow we're going to confront him. Namely about how our particular business doesn't actually fall under the guidelines set out by the Ministry of Primary Industries for operating under the COVID-19 lockdown. Businesses MUST have five or less staff operating on one site (today I worked with NINE different people on one farm alone, and I also had to work on two other farms and touch surfaces touched by other people that day that definitely weren't sanitised in between). Businesses also MUST have staff operating with social distancing practises, which we definitely can't do anyway because ... well ... horses sometimes necessitate two or more people working within proximity. If a business doesn't fall under these restrictions they have to register with the MPI and I'm pretty sure we haven't done that. Literally every other stable and stud farm in New Zealand is cutting back hours and working only the necessary jobs (feeding, treatments, injuries etc.). Entire racing stables have sent ALL their horses back to owners or to spelling farms. Even the vets aren't available unless it's an emergency callout.
If he continues to do it anyway I'll throw him under the bus. I'm not going to partake in a dangerous practise that goes against strict health and safety guidelines during a government sanctioned lockdown in a WORLD CRISIS EVENT. I'll report him with evidence. I don't even care. I've gone against my workplace with a lawyer before for a different matter and I won, I'll do it again if necessary. They can't fire me for adhering to government rules, and they can't make me redundant because if they do that they're not allowed to rehire anyone to replace me unless they do it under different hours and a different job title. I was planning on leaving this year anyway before all this blew up. I'm only staying because I want to work during the lockdown and have guaranteed income.

Colins Legacy: I completely agree with you. My family is dog sitting for our neighbor who has cancer and she still chose to fly down to Florida this week. She’s probably signing her death wish currently, and in all honesty she probably isn’t taking into consideration everyone else who she could possibly give it to. I am also friends with a girl who travelled and is still down in Mexico. I don’t understand, especially since the government has closed or limited nearly everything. Personally I believe it’s selfish, especially since most companies and airlines are offering refunds because of this.

I'm so anxious about it. I work in a store classed as "essential" by the government so we won't close which is great and I'm thankful on the one hand but that also means it's that much harder to limit my exposure.
Truthfully I'm not that worried about myself. I'm in decent health. I know what symptoms to look for. I'm young. I'm so scared for my parents and grandparents though. I hate seeing people not taking this seriously. I hate people my age thinking it's no big deal because the chances of them dying are so small by comparison. I hate that some people are still traveling for leisure. I don't wish my level of anxiety on anyone but I want people to be a little scared. I want them to take this seriously. I want people to understand that what they're doing is bigger than just them right now. I want people to understand that their careless decision can expose someone who doesn't have the ability to fight this off. And you only need a two week supply of stuff. Stop panic buying. I understand the impulse but product can only be made so fast. Take what you need. For now. For an average amount of time. Not for the next three months.
I know there's a light at the end of this tunnel...but I also know we have quite a bit of tunnel to go and I'm absolutely terrified.

Seconding what Jumping Bloom said, but with additional pleading for people to not encourage others to not take it seriously.
I've spoken with people who study coronaviruses, and they've been working more or less 24/7 trying to learn as much as they possibly can. It's an incredible amount of work but for the sake of a good night's sleep, I'm kinda glad I'm not one of them...
We got an urgent email today begging all our labs to donate supplies because doctors in our area are treating patients without protective gear. It concerns me that we are this unprepared. Donated what we could, but can't imagine it'll last long. j
In funnier news, saw a person walking down the street with her arms stretched out to make sure people kept their distance. Looked pretty silly, but hey, it works!

I think the point of this post is to see how everyone is doing and how their daily life is affected. Let’s leave politics out of it. Otherwise this post will become people arguing.

I believe the media is the main culprit.
They make it seem worse than it is.
I live in a house full of Trump supporters - I don't like politics.
I'm a firm believer that if there is an area 51, do you not think that the government could literally do whatever they want at any given time regardless of who knows about it?
We've survived diseases and virus's for years and years.
People have recovered from this virus, a very small amount of people die.
It's the fact that the virus spreads quickly is what makes it more concerning.
Just my thoughts. :)

I live in Ontario Canada and we have been deemd State of Emergency... all schools, pubs, restaurants and gatherings with more then 50 people are closed/shut down. I work in a nursing home - we have screening at the door to assure we do not have a fever and we have not been travelling. No visitors allowed in the building, only building staff. We have failed to beat the curve, it's now rapidly spreading. Our government has announced the financial plan to help our fellow Canadian's on the 14 day mandatory quarantine, they have closed the boarders to all non-essential travel. It's getting pretty real out there. Our governing body for the equestrian sport ordered today all riding facilities close, thankfully my horse is at a private facility and it will remain open for now.

1. First off don't make a pandemic political
2. Trump deserves to not get re-elected after the way he has handled the pandemic. (And literally everything else)
3. This is way bigger than Trump, and the way he and the media are handling things are WHY people are panic buying and closing things and not limiting people contact.

Things are now starting to heighten in the county I work for. We have 11 confirmed cases in a neighboring county and 1 confirmed case in my own county. We have updated protocols on how to respond for these potential calls and our call volume is steadily increasing. We now get screened before the start of every shift, if anyone runs a fever they are sent home. If a lot of us get sick our agency will feel a terrible strain. We are already short on paramedic staff. I am personally wearing a mask on every call regardless of complaint to not only protect myself but my family and my patients. You can spread this virus during it’s incubation phase and you will not have symptoms to know if you have it or not.
It is important that people take this seriously and quarantine themselves regardless of whether they think it will affect them negatively or not. It is our vulnerable populations we need to protect. We also cannot risk to flood our hospitals if we all get sick at once.

Im hating it, I have to stay away from people as I work with the elderly so If i get sick then I really will have to isolate and stay away from my job which then causes more stress as me and my colleagues are already under pressure to get the calls we have done.
I did go shopping yesterday, and people are now panic buying beer, and I mean a lot of beer, I needed a crate of Guinness and I had to go to 4 supermarkets to get some

Mystic - yes and no? The tricky thing about this virus is that it's both really good at causing severe symptoms and staying hidden in people without serious symptoms at all. But for the people who are getting very sick, yeah, it's pneumonia - lung inflammation, shortness of breath, fever, etc with visible effects on the lungs.
Like the original SARS virus, the symptoms can be extremely severe, so it's fortunate that the majority of people are experiencing symptoms more on the level of the flu, which is also still going around and can also cause pneumonia, just to complicate matters (my understanding was that this year's flu strains are having a higher impact on younger populations, while the new coronavirus is targeting older people). Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be any symptom so distinct that it'd be easy to know you had one or the other just by how you were feeling.

Stay safe! Much respect for people trying to keep essential services going amidst chaos.
BTW guys, if anybody has questions about the virus, please feel free to send them my way! I don't work on things exactly like this one, but am pretty familiar with the virus/vaccine world and am trying to keep up with all the science. I say this because I got a long email of conspiracy theories from a guy I know and it's painful to see.

Schools are cancelled around me. Governor just declared that all restaurants and bars are to be closed starting today at 5pm. Strongly advised to have no more than groups of 10 people. I work as a 911 dispatcher and a Community Service Officer and I have to take my temperature every time I walk into work. When I work as a CSO we also have to wipe down our squads. Also as a dispatcher we were told if staffing gets down to 50%, we will have to stay at the communication center so the rest of us don’t get sick. You cannot go without 911.

No, not insane. A little quarantine might help us slow spread. Maybe not stop it outright, but at least help our medical system keep up. The real danger is sick people not getting treated due to lack of supplies/beds/doctors.
We’re now under shelter at home orders, so no work for me after today. The irony is I work in a lab on respiratory viruses, and now here’s a respiratory virus keeping me from work.

All schools in Virginia as well. I'm a theatre major in college and we're all like "sooo... how do we do theatre online?"
Anyways, things are looking about the same here. I suffer from asthma so am at risk, but am more worried about my parents. On another note, I'm interested to see how this will impact our country, and I hope people take this seriously. Yes, we aren't at high risk, but I think it's best if we just all self-quarantine ourselves for 2-3 weeks so we can isolate the virus, at least a little.
Please note I have no extensive medical or economic training or knowledge so this may just be completely insane xD
