Faith: Horses are clipped in different ways depending on work, whether they live out or in etc. Your horse needs to be clipped correctly so they do not over heat, but they aren't too cold either. It is not done to simply 'make a horse look good'. It is done for their health.
Just more evidence you shouldn't be owning horses.

It's because when horses get sweaty with a winter coat on, it's much, much harder to cool them off and get rid of the sweat. They clip them in the main areas where they sweat, thus not clipping the whole body. You have to keep a blanket on them and such in the winter when you do this, but it's a lot more practical.

Gosh i just did not know Fleety....i have never shaved a horse because my horses dont ride much in the winter....i never really plan on shaving oh sorry clipping my horses because they dont work much in the winter....i just thought it looked weird...and i saw some really fancy horses have a clipping done so i thought it might be for looks also...oh yea and i take care of my horses perfectly fine! =)

I think it's a trace clip, my mum used to do clipping years ago, but now she just does our horses.
