Faith: Horses are clipped in different ways depending on work, whether they live out or in etc. Your horse needs to be clipped correctly so they do not over heat, but they aren't too cold either. It is not done to simply 'make a horse look good'. It is done for their health.

Just more evidence you shouldn't be owning horses.

Emmurr: Lily looks fantastic :)

It's because when horses get sweaty with a winter coat on, it's much, much harder to cool them off and get rid of the sweat. They clip them in the main areas where they sweat, thus not clipping the whole body. You have to keep a blanket on them and such in the winter when you do this, but it's a lot more practical.

Faith Forever: It's not called Shaving, it's called clipping, it keeps the horses cooler when they're being ridden.

Faith it's for working out in the winter, they shave depending on how much the horse is going to be working. They do it because they don't want the horse to sweat so much and it still keeps them warm.

People "shave" there horses is they are working them so they don't sweat as much..You have different clips for different purposes.

It's proper name is actually clipping and it's just to keep the horse cool when their winter coat comes through. Because of her type and the amount of work she does, this type of clip is ideal because it takes off enough fur so that she's still warm enough but doesn't get too hot or sweat too much when she's working. It usually all depends on the horse :)

I think it's a trace clip, my mum used to do clipping years ago, but now she just does our horses.
And thank you very much! :D
