Just a little drawing of my HARPG horse Fire Catches. She is very enthusiastic about jumping, even when the jump is small. A version of this piece is being entered in a Hunter Over Fences class. Here is the story for the image, I would really love some critique of my writing:
Fire pranced into the ring, eager to show again. The elegant Arabian mare nickered softly and pricked her dainty ears as she saw the jumps. "Alright girl, no need to gallop," whispered Cora, "just the hunters. Not showjumping, so take it easy." Cora asked Fire for a canter and they approached the first jump, a white wall under two blue and white striped rails. Fire's canter carried a bouncy step as they neared the jump, each hoof pushing off the ground with immense power and energy collected in a refined, beautiful frame. Fire's coat was as golden and shiny as a freshly minted coin, reflecting the sunlight in flames that danced across her muscles. They took off into the air above the fence, Fire's jumper instincts kicking in as she lifted her legs excessively high, folding them up to eliminate any possibility of knocking a rail. Cora, expecting the huge thrust, was well out of the saddle, her hands pressing into Fire's neck as they cleared the first fence and looked toward the next. |
