You should've put your hand forward when she reared up, but it is good your leaning forward.

Doodles Forever
Pulling her her head around might work for those little rears, but doing that is a very bad habit to have during larger rears. If the horse goes into a bigger rear and you pull its head back, you are taking away his/her balance, which could make it fall backwards.
The easiest way is to simply hang on to the neck, loosen the reins and wait for the horse to come back down, then calmly take up the contact and carry on working, which looks like what you did, so thats fantastic!

I agree with Mesha. That's saved me and mom several times from being flipped. Dottie is gorgeous by the way! :)

Doodles, causing the horse to fall backwards will only work if you lean back and pull the horse backwards on top of you. Leaning forward, grabbing the rein rather close to the bit, and circling downwards will only knock the horse off balance so that it must land. Inexperienced people may panic and pull backwards in an attempt to circle them downwards, so you really have to know what you're doing, but I always knock the horse off balance so that I can immediately stop the rearing instead of just sitting on for the ride and letting it carry on. The horse may rear so high that it flips over on its own, and I definitely want to avoid that from happening.
