As most of you may know. I have been training an 11 year old Quarterhorse named Shimmer. He was a bucker and had no respect.

We had this checklist when I started on June, 5 2010:
1. Improve ground work.
2. Start Liberty.
3. Perfect Liberty.
4. Get buck out on ground.
5. Improve small things in saddle. (Leg and Hand cues)
6. Work in engaging material. (barrel turns, trail patterns)
7. Get buck out in saddle.(riding) And teach better back, and sidepass.
8. Train on trails.(Stop ditch jumping)
9. Teach reining stop, sidepass, and rollback.
10. Perfect everything. (Or as close as we can get)

I have gotten to 9 on my list aside from 8. He has gotten better but still hesitates at ditches. Our sliding stop and rollback needs improvement.

But in three months we have came far. This horse is simply amazing. I fell in love with him within the first week of training him. Only downside to training horses is not being able to keep them.

Shimmer is so intelligent it blows me away. He tries his best at everything you throw at him. If anyone needs help training horse, please message me! I will be happy to help!

Finally There
Yah, it's hard training horses because in most cases you can't keep them. Somehow I have been stuck with some of my horses that I WAS training becuz the owner saw I was falling in love and gave them to me. :) lol.
