Bear The Super Horse

Bear is truly a special horse. Bear was a race horse, His race name is Lucky Bear. At the age of 2, Bears owners decided he was old enough to start racing. The first race he was put in is unknown, but he won that race. His owners then decided they would put him in the Kentucky Derby, which was a lot farther to race then his first. During that race Bear tripped and twisted his right fore ankle.

Bear didn't recover so his owners put him in a slaughter auction. Luckily we were there, we saw him and for me it was love at first site. I told my mom we had to get him. She thought about it for awhile, the price was going higher and higher on him. Finally she was the top bidder and he was ours.

Bear The Super Horse

The next morning when he arrived, we trailered him to the vet to get him checked over. The vet said that he will recover but he will need surgery and will have to be on lots of pain medications and antibiotics. We agreed to let Bear have surgery and be on a lot of meds. Two months we waited until he could go home from the vets, then when he came home we were so happy! But it would take him another two months until anyone could ride him.

Being only 3 years old and having to get surgery and be on all these meds must be shocking. Two months had past, and before anyone rode him we tacked him up and hand walked him. Hand walking him was a great way to bond with him. Then when my mom wasn't looking I got on. He freaked out and threw me off into the grass. He knew he had done something wrong, the look on his face made me sad.

One month of hand walking had gone by. I went away for a month or so, and by the time I got back it would be Christmas eve. During the time I was gone my mom had hired a trainer to get him back into shape and jumping. On Christmas day my mom took me out to the barn, and there he was, all cleaned up and looking good with a bow around his neck. My mom said that he is mine.

Years went past and Bear and I grew stronger. We worked together perfectly we were meant to be. Jumping was the best because he was great at it and he loved jumping, but like any other horse he had his bad days. We had overcome some fears and our bond was stronger than ever. We did lots of shows and had great times together. Lucky Bear is the most luckiest horse on the planet, and I'm the luckiest person. I love you Lucky Bear!

wow, that's ridiculous :( Some people just don't get that horses are living things like people, not machines. You can't throw a rookie racer in the Kentucky Derby and hope he does good. :(

But he was obviously very lucky to have found you! :D It's great what you guys have accomplished, and it's wonderful that he got a second chance. I hate it when good horses are given away for slaughter because nobody cares enough to make them the stars they should be.

The horse in the pictures is very cute. He looks like a nice modern bred Quarter Horse. The beginning part of your story is rather far fetched. The Kentucky Derby? Really? What kind of surgery did he require? How old is this horse now?

His old owners beat him and were very cruel. They wanted him to be a racehorse that people will remember. He is 7 years old and i donot know what surgery he had.

No horse by the name of Lucky Bear was entered in the derby in 2005, 2006 or 2007. Your horse would only be eligible as a 3 yr old so if he is 7 (born in 2003) the 2006 Derby that Barbaro won would have been his field. I don't understand why you couldn't have written this story without making that part up. Unless this is supposed to be a work of fiction...
Also, if your mother paid for the surgery she probably knows or has record of exactly what the sugery was...

You can't qualify after one race. :/
Even if you win, you have to accumulate money from graded races throughtout the whole year.

... Still, even if he's not a race winner, you don't need him to be. He's a lovely looking animal all the same, and you two clearly do very well together.

You CANNOT qualify a horse into the Kentucky derby with only ONE win. XD

You have to have enough graded winnings in order to even QUALIFY. And the smallest I've seen was 12,000.
And as a two year old and one race won, that horse did not run in the kentucky derby.
Nice story.
But even better horse :)
Your lucky to have him.
