I Wish I could Ride You Just One More Time

Danny was a Fabulous little Pony. He was Bay and around 14hands high. Danny was like my own pony, only he was'nt even owned by me. Danny arrived the summer of 2007. He was owned by the farriers daughter and was at The Riding School for the summer to gain some behavour. He was gorgeous. All the little kids went up to him, but then it suddenly turned bad. He bit someone. He threw people off in his lessons as if in stress and he was put to calm down in his box with no lessons for a few days.
After a few days it was my turn to use Danny as a lesson horse. I put on his bridle with him biting me and when I tightened his girth he bit me even harder, but I was determined to give this pony a chance. So I mounted up and started to walk Danny around. Just his walk brought shivers down my spine. He was like a 17 hands high dressage horse at the Badminton! His canter stride was perfect and his trot was so smooth. I'd never felt this feeling before. It was kind of magical! Then we jumped! OH NO. This made me scared. I had only jumped a few times before, but my instructor gave me some encouragement, so I gave it a try. I was so glad I did, it was amazing! It felt like he didn't even leave the ground!
After that initial ride I had lots of private lessons with him. By my fifth lesson we were jumping a course of eight jumps and all clear! This pony was like a gift from GOD! I went to see him every weekend and even sometimes after school. I just loved being around him. Recently I was grooming him and his real owner came. She told me to leave and stop riding Danny. She said she had seen me riding Danny in my lessons and did not want me riding him any longer.
I was heart broken. One day after school I stopped by to see him and he wasnt there. I asked around and everyone said he had gone home! I didn't even get to say goodbye!
All year I thought about him until my wish came true. On the first day of the summers holiday there he was, just looking out of his box! I ran up to the stables, opened it and gave him the biggest hug. He was back!
I saddled up and we went for a hack! I even had my first gallop! I found out he had been sold and after this summer would not be returning, so I spent as much time with him as possible. Danny, if you are out there, I still think of you all the time. My wish is to just ride you, one more time. I will always Love You. |
