How fast should your favorite sim game be returning your emails? We put this to the test and recorded the email response time of some of the top horse sim games in the industry.

The test was fairly straight forward. I sent the following question to their listed email address to each of the sites below and recorded the response time.

Hi, I'm a new player. How do I make money in this game?

Unfortunately most of the game sites didn't respond to our email so we ended this test after 1 week of no response. Before you donate to your favorite sim game site maybe you should shoot them a quick test email like I did and see if they respond.

good idea. but most sim site customer support has more important questions to answer and important work. maybe a better question would work better :)

I agree with Brezie. Perhaps a better question would have held more results? Such a question could probably be answered on the site itself, in the form of an FAQ, or forum, if the site has it. A site with a large member base probably has more pressing questions or matters to attend than a question already answered on site. Maybe try again with a different question?

That is true, Brezie, but when I joined Ponylabs I did not receive the email you need to activate your account. I tried signing in and it wouldn't let me. I checked I had put in the right e-mail-which I had. So I messaged them asking what to do... And got no reply. A couple of months later, still no reply (and I checked my junk). It will not let me join again either. I think websites do need to respond.

Why didn't you test either or They have a forum with sections dedicated just for new player questions, and if the admin isn't around, the players themselves fall all over themselves to welcome new players and answer questions.

Unless you are asking in the middle of the night, you will have an answer in *minutes*.

I think it's really interesting that none of the games were contacted about this (before or after). It does seem like this survey is getting some chatter online, though!

Mind you I don't mind - it looks like we stack up okay although as with SHC or H&J our forums are usually far faster than an email inquiry. I wonder how this was fielded?

Very good experiment! I tend to notice that newer sim games have faster response times because they need to focus on their client base more...more established SIM's like Ponybox can let it slide a few days (plus they often recieve more requests, anyway.) Still a great experiment - interesting results. I'd love to see you conduct a second experiment and see if response times have improved (or gotten worse) now that time has passed.
