My First Ride On Dino

My First Ride On DinoI rode Dino for the first time today! He's quite the bit of work to say the least. I Gotta work on that big thoroughbred canter of his.

He was being a brat on the ground, as usual, so he met Mr. whip today. I have a feeling it was a reappearance considering how full of himself he is. He would let me pick up his hoof, then he would try to walk off while I was holding his hoof. I'm extra gentle, its not like I jab at his frog or anything. It's just a habit of his. Needless to say by the time I was on the 3rd hoof, he was acting just fine.

He's a little better about his blanket. He understands it won't eat him now. Maybe he's afraid of the dark...haha.

When I lunged him he would pull on the line, and I had to switch bridles because the one I was using was too loose and he would pull so hard the bit came out of his mouth. So we are going to have an extra special lesson on lunging next week. He responded very well to my leg and seat, we just have to work on speed. I had to ride western because we are trying to teach him to slow down and that everything doesn't need to be fast.

Thank goodness he's only four, so when I ride him western in shows I can use a snaffle and two hands. Now we get to kick some butt in the 5 and under junior horse classes.

I don`t get how he wins all these awards and you have so many complaints. He is probably drugged and doped left and right during shows.
