Park Saviors - Part Two

Park SaviorsWhen Alexa woke up the next morning at exactly seven o'clock, she went into the bathroom to take a shower. After she was out, she put her dark, black, ebony hair in a ponytail.

Her hair was soft and sleek with gentle waves and showed off her olive skin tone and green eyes. She wasn't the skinniest girl, but was cute and charming with her curves. Her smile was bright and contagious with a couple freckles on the bridge of her nose, but besides that her complexion was flawless.

She went out of the bathroom and put on some purple breeches, a red t-shirt, then packed a bag for her Parade of Breeds outfit and went downstairs to meet Kevin for breakfast.

"Good morning Kevin!" Alexa said. Smiling down at Kevin where he sat at a table next to a window looking out over the busy highway.

"Morning, sit." Kevin said tiredly. Alexa sat then waved the waiter over.

"So, what will you do today Kevin?" Alexa said, looking at him across the brown table.

"I guess I'll watch your show then go chill somewhere. I think I'll get a job at the park so I can do something everyday, at least until your mom gets here." Kevin said.

"Thanks, I think they're looking for a groom in the Draft Barn. I know how you love the draft horses." Alexa said with a grin.

"I might just have to look into that." Kevin said as they both chuckled.

When the food came they ate in silence and when they were both done Kevin paid the check and they drove off towards the horse park.

When they got there it was about seven forty-five, but already the park was bustling with employees and horses being led around. Alexa went straight to the Parade of Breeds barn to see her horse Nutmeg. Nutmeg was just finishing his morning feed and looked up at Alexa when she came to the door and nickered. She laughed at the hay in his forelock and took him out of the stall and tied him up to a post outside of the barn. She got her brushes that she had brought and started cleaning him up.

When she was done his four white socks gleamed in the sun. His blaze, straight down the middle of his face was as white as the clouds. His chestnut coat gleamed as bright as a new copper penny and his mane and tail blew softly in the light breeze.

Alexa stepped back and admired her work. Nutmeg looked over at her when she moved back and he looked worried that she was going to leave him. Alexa laughed, patted his neck and took her grooming box and put it back in the tack room. When she got back a girl with brown hair wearing a tight purple shirt and black breeches that showed off her toothpick shape was looking at Nutmeg.

"Hello, can I help you?" Alexa asked with a smile and tapped on the girl's shoulder.

The girl jumped and whirled around revealing wide, brown eyes and pale lips with freckles all over her nose and cheeks.

"Umm, no. I was just admiring your horse. This is the new Thoroughbred, Nutmeg, right?" She asked.

Alexa nodded. "Do you have a horse here?"

"Yes, mine is the Morgan named Major." The girl said with a smile.
"Oh, my name's Olivia by the way." She added with a laugh.
"Mine's Alexa, do you mind showing me around the barn?" Alexa added shyly.
"Sure." Olivia towed Alexa behind her showing her every horse in the barn, their names, and their owner's names. Then she took her to the pastures where they got turned out after the show.

"Actually, if you want you can turn them out at night, which is what most people do." Olivia added, pointing out that only a couple horses where in the two pastures. One for the mares and one of the geldings, for the Parade of Breeds horses.

"I think that I'll do that." Alexa said after a moment.

"Good, they get fed when they come in at seven and fed before they go out at seven. It's a better schedule than being turned out between shows, then rushing around to get them clean." Olivia and Alexa laughed at the mental image.

Alexa smiled at the thought of a friend on her first day. She was eager to learn how the rest of the day would go.
