My Life With Pop - Part 2

My Life With PopThe last time I saw Pop was a while ago. "Mom, come on!," I say. "No, absolutely not," she says. We've been fighting about me wanting to see Pop all weekend.
"But please? Just once? I need to talk to the owner about buying Pop!" I said.
"Yes, I know but, honey, I don't have the time." my mom said.
"Ashley can take me!" I say. Ashley is my older sister, she is 18 and has her drivers license.
"Only when she is off of work, like on Sunday." Mom said.
"Yes!" I screamed out in joy! Ashley is going to take me wether she likes it or not.

I get ready to try out Popcorn. I put my neon pink polo on and my tan riding pants. I put on my very light and colorful flower socks and black chaps and I'm ready to go. I get my helmet, gloves and water bottle into my bag and I go to Ashley.
She says, "Okay are you ready to go? Do you have everything?"
"Yeah." I relied as I looked through my bag.
Me and Ashley load into her red Camaro. While she drives I can barely stay still. She said, "Are you alright? Drink some water."
I fumbled through my bag and finally found my water bottle.
"Thats better, thanks" I said.

We finally get there and I basically run out of the car to Pop's stall. I walk in and Pop nickered. I grabbed his halter and put it over his head and buckled it. I clicked the lead rope on and lead him out to the cross-ties. I brushed him and picked his feet with care and put all the pads, my new bridle and saddle on. I put my helmet and gloves on and lead him out to the mounting block. I mounted him softly and we walked into the ring. I walked him around a bit and began to trot and did some 20 meter circles, then we broke into a canter. It felt like I was cantering on a cloud.

when I was done I rode him back to the barn and the barn owner stopped me and and asked how I liked him.

"I love him! My sister has the check." I said and giggled.

The barn owner said we made a good pair. I got off Pop and put the reins over his head, loosened his girth and fixed the stirrups. I lead him back to the cross-ties and took the saddle, pads and bridle off and put the pads on the fence to dry. I then took Pop down to the wash off area and hosed and dried him off. I reluctantly put him away and kissed his head goodbye for now. I can't wait until we meet again.
