Park Saviors - Part Four

Park SaviorsWhen Alexa stepped out into the footed arena under the blinding sun,she saw Olivia standing in the middle of the arena looking out of the entrance, her left side facing Alexa.
"Olivia,what's wrong?" Alexa asked concerned.

She stepped up to the railing and looked out the entrance. Outside of the barn was a big, muscular horse. He had a black as midnight colored mane and tail, but his body was gray. He was staring at Olivia with deep blue eyes that seemed to look right through you. When he saw Alexa come into view he froze and stared at her. Alexa started to back up then walk into the arena. The horse watched her with keen eyes, not missing a thing.

When Alexa reached Olivia in the middle of the arena, they both glanced at each other quickly then looked back at the stallion. When they both glanced at each other, the stallion spooked and took off towards the Hall of Champions, which were all stallions. Alexa and Olivia quickly took off after him. While Alexa went straight after him, Olivia got Bradd, who was locking up the tack room, and took off chasing Alexa and the stallion a few seconds later.

She chased the stallion past the Hall of Champion stallions and all the way to the stables in the back of the Park where horses stayed for shows. When her stomach started cramping, she tried to go farther but couldn't. She noticed a golf cart and ran over and used her skeleton key to start the cart and chase after the horse. After a few minutes of being lost she saw a black wisp of tail disappear around a corner. She immediately followed. When she rounded the corner she gasped.

The stallion was stuck in a pasture with another horse, a black foal. The foal was lying on the ground but Alexa could tell she was in bad shape. Her bones were sticking out and her eyes were closed.

Alexa hopped out of the golf cart and went into the pasture. She slowly walked toward the foal being aware of the stallion a few feet away. When she got to the baby girl she knelt down and looked at her. She saw that the foal was scared, but was too weak to react. Alexa ran back to the golf cart to find a bucket and a hose and returned with water. The foal accepted the water greedily and instantly looked refreshed.

When Alexa returned back to the Hall of Champions she saw Olivia's and Bradd's golf cart. She yelled for them and they came running out of the back.

"I need two halters, one smaller than the other. I also need a bucket of grain and water and prep two empty stalls pronto!" Alexa said.

Olivia went into the barn, grabbed the stuff and hopped into Alexa's golf cart. Bradd got into his golf cart after helping Olivia get the buckets and went to the Parade of Breeds barn to get the stalls ready.

Alexa drove as fast as the cart allowed and took Olivia to the pasture with the stallion and foal. While she was gone the foal had gotten up and was standing, trying to graze while the stallion was right next to her. Olivia and Alexa went into the pasture and put the halter on the foal, who was too weak to put up any resistance. When they turned to do the same to the stallion he looked at the halter and immediately galloped to the other end of the pasture. Olivia got the grain bucket and shook it until the stallion finally came over and they were able to get the halter on.

They gave both horses some grain then walked them to the gate, where they hesitantly opened it. The stallion clearly thought about running, but didn't. The foal was most likely his daughter and wasn't able to do anything but walk. Olivia walked on foot with the foal while Alexa got in the golf cart holding the stallion and drove back to the Hall of Breeds barn.

When they arrived Alexa turned the stallion out in the arena so he could get use to the new setting and helped Bradd get the second stall ready. By the time it was ready Olivia was just getting inside the barn with the foal. As soon as the stallion saw his daughter he rushed to the gate and neighed. The foal barely nickered and went into the stall.

Olivia, Bradd and Alexa watched the stallion and foal wondering what they would tell the manager.
"We'll have to tell her as soon as she gets here tomorrow." Bradd said frowning.
"What will we do with them tomorrow?" Olivia asked.
"What do you mean?" Alexa asked confused.
"The pubic. They will think that we abuse the horses when they see these two." She explained.
"Well, how about this?" Alexa asked. She went into the tack room and came out with two sheets of paper and taped them onto the two stalls.
"This will explain that they're not being abused, they're being saved."
On the stalls the signs read:

Our two new horses that we're saving. Help us. Donate today.

"I like that Alexa. It explains the situation and makes us sound like saviors." Bradd said smiling.
"Yeah, but we should put a donation bucket next to it so they don't get confused." Olivia said going into the tack room and getting a bucket. She took a piece of paper and wrote the word donation on it and set it down in between the stalls.

The three teenagers stood there looking at their work and said nothing. A few moments later Bradd got a text and said he had to go. Olivia offered a ride to Alexa who refused and left Alexa watching the stallion in the barn.
