We all have dreamt it, owning our own horse; I waited for so long I felt like giving up hope on owning one, until April 10, 2008 when I received a call from my step mom.
She had found a Quarter horse mare on Craigslist and was planning to buy her.
The only thing was she was emaciated (skinny) enough to see a majority of her bones. I remember I could barely sit through school the next morning. I was so excited and when I first saw her I knew that I loved her. Her name is Annie, we were told she was 19 years old, but we found out later she was actually closer to 30!
It was a battle for her life the first week we owned her, my parents didn’t believe that she was going to make it, but I didn’t give up hope on her. I spent hours upon hours outside brushing her and watching her in the pasture. It took many weeks to get her to a healthy weight, and I am glad we took a chance on her. She turned out to be the sweetest mare I have ever met. She let me put anyone on her back and she would follow me like a dog. Never once has she bucked, reared, or bitten. I could not of asked for a better first horse.
Wow, she's a wonderful chestnut! I've never owned a horse, but I have to very special friends, my dogs Buddy and Olivia. I'm lucky enough to have them at least. :)
