One Last Embrace

She could feel the cold coming from the dark cave that didn't look the least bit inviting. Her eyes turned pure white as she illuminates the cavern. The soft sound of water dripping echoed through the darkness; Sakia started to feel the fear rising in her chest. The creeping feeling that had kept her from doing this over 200 years ago but that was when he had returned. There was no way she couldn't have just ran to him. All she wished for at that moment was for his green eyes to be glowing through the blackness, giving her courage or she would like to think, a reason to stay. The reason she was here was because of him, yet if he were there she'd forget all of that and run to him. But he was the one who left! She reminded herself and started moving through the cave faster. Her coat was black as soot and her eyes would usually match. She was as silent as silent could be as she walked tentatively forward toward her fate. She felt eyes watching her and spun around. There they were, that pair of emerald green eyes that had captured her heart so many times she'd stopped keeping track. She could feel the tear sliding down her cheek as she saw the glint of one on his. He just stood there. his heart pounding at the sight of the only mare he'd ever really loved. Sakia knew she shouldn't be weak, but she was. She ran to him, burying her face in the stallions thick mane. Her eyes instantly shifted to a deep chocolate brown making them look even more tear filled. "Why?" was all she could muster as her entire body shook as it was pressed against his. He couldn't speak as the tears started to roll down his muzzle.

The two of them didn't know how long they stood there but knew that it didn't matter because they finally realized they needed each other more than anything. But Sakia could feel it, the poison had finally caught up to her. She could feel the brittle weakness in her bones and the heaviness in her chest as she closes her eyes for a second before opening them one last time to see his face. She stretches her neck to his ear and whispers "I'll love you forever. Good bye." Then she closes her eyes forever, pressed against him in pure darkness as the glow from her eyes faded. He could feel that she was gone, holding back a choked sob as he feels for once in the last 500 year, pure, true sorrow. But it was quickly replaced by rage, for he knew who did this to his beloved. He would make sure they would die at his hooves after being burned beyond recognition. All he could do for now was lie her down on the cold floor where she'd planed to die. His tears fall upon her as he nuzzles her soft cheek one last time. She would forever rest in that cave and it would be protected by him until the end of time. He wanted only one thing now. Revenge.
