When Darkness Sets In

“How does she look?” I asked John excitedly from the fence line of the riding ring at Red Oaks.

“They look fantastic,” he replied happily and put a arm on my shoulder.

“You sure did good, Anna,” he told me.

“Thanks,” I laughed, “Sure wasn’t easy.”

“How did you do it?” he questioned me in awe.

“I just pored out my heart,” I sighed, not really wanting to remember at the moment. This was still hard for me, and I’m sure it was for Kailee too.

“You know you have me, if you need me,” John told me and gave me a squeeze.

“I’ll always need you,” I whispered and felt John smile next to me.
