Hopefully everyone knows my special pony, On Angels Wings or Angel for short. This is a story about all the special moments we shared together. I got inspiration for this story from a photo album on Facebook named "cause we don't remember days, we remember moments" and I thought well wouldn't it be great to share those moments I remember with my fellow Ponyboxers, so here I am doing just that. There is a lot of moments I want to share with you so I will start with the first three of my favourite moments. I hope you all enjoy.
Moment #1: Our First Canter
It was a dark October evening and I had just arrived up at the yard. I sighed thinking I would not be riding today, but before I had time to think, Killian shouted over to me to tack up Angel, we were going on a hack! I was nervous as we headed out, it was pretty dark and the road had traffic and bad bends. Once we were walking Killian told me I was to turn down a lane and trot on. I did as he said and soon we reached the dead-end. Killian, who was behind me, turned and told me we were going to canter. I was pretty terrified at first, but then I started to enjoy myself. I was cantering my own pony and I wasn't even in a sand arena! It was a great feeling.
Moment #2: The 'Massive' 70cm
It was an early Summer morning, I had just finished warming Angel up and was jumping over some cross-poles with my friend Grace. We started a Chase me Charlie game. Chase me Charlie is where you jump one jump that gets higher each time you clear it. My friend Grace put up a 70cm jump and said that would be high enough for today. I needed to beat 70cm and was very nervous approaching the jump. I had never tackled this height before. I cantered her up to jump, praying it would all be ok. I folded into a jumping position and soon felt like I was flying. I cleared it!
Moment #3: Our First Time Cross-Country
It was the last day of the Pony Club Rallies and after a small bit of jumping without stirrups we headed out to the cross-country course. On the very last jump we were running late, there was only time for one jump each. We all had to jump the triple bar, it stood at about 80cm and it was huge to me at the time. As we cantered up, my horse Angel was happy and willing, but just before the jump she stopped dead, tossing me forward. Then she took a large cat-leap from a standstill, I was flung forwards and was sitting on her neck. I pulled myself back into the saddle as she trotted back to the ride. I was completely shocked, how on earth did I stay on through all of that? What caused Angel to throw me backwards before I had a nasty fall? I don't think I will ever find out, but any more.

Sounds like you have improved a lot. The big jump isn't so big anymore.

As I entered the ring I was confident, I trotted around the 'evil' jumps and cantered over towards the first fence, ironically this was the most challenging to me. It stood at 65cm but was quite wide and brightly coloured. Angel w ...

I pushed into a nice canter and looked for the first fence, a small spread. As we turned the corner we set up straight into the fence and before I could think Angel dug her heels into the ground and refused to jump, this seemed to ...

In short order we signed up for the Killinick Harriers Hunt branch of the Irish Pony Club. Pat (the yard owner) was a strong influence on the club after hunting with them for as long as I can remember. After an instructor watched ...

On October 16th 2010 I met my dream pony, the red and white mare with no name. She was extremely thin and unfit, but she was quieter than a lamb. I worked hard on ‘fixing’ her, feeding her, grooming her and getting her fitness up ...

I had been very upset lately. My mare Star had been sold after 5 years. Dad said he would get me another mare, a young one if I was up to it. I knew he would get me a new mare, but at the time I thought no mare could top Star, she ...

Sadly I heard no reply. I was so scared and hopeless, but at least I have my Midnight back. Finally, after a while Midnight slowed back to a walk and I dismounted quickly. I was fine and so was Midnight and his beautiful herd. Slo ...

We galloped for half an hour wandering over thousands of trails on Mustang Mountain. Soon Black Beauty got tired so we slowed to a walk. Where could he be I thought. I tried to clear my mind, think of where he likes to graze. Sudd ...
