Horse Short Story

Sky's eyes glowed brightly as the dark world around him tried despairingly to take the light away from him. When he saw her his eyes bulged, as he watched her take a shallow breath.

Sakia felt a presence near her but the world had gone black long ago. The mare's black eyes were very foggy and her once muscular body was no more than a pile of bones and black skin. She took a deep breath and said "Who is there?" Her voice was as rough as sandpaper while the once powerful mare tried to lift her head but could only get it maybe and inch off the ground before having to put it back down. Sky took a step closer to Sakia and began to sing.

"You are my sunshine, my only sunshine
You make me happy, when skies are gray
You never know dear, how much I love you
So please don't take my sunshine away."

His voice echoed through the darkness and Sakia took in a sharp breath. Her eyes started to well with tears but the only thing she was able to say was "Good bye, my sunshine."
