Horse Table Shelter

If You Can't Build a Barn, Build a Table
The photograph depicts an idyllic scene of horses grazing in a lush field. The unusual part is that they are standing beneath a massive table and chair set. The caption circulating with the photo claims that the local government would not allow the horse's owner to build a shelter for them. So, the owner decided to build some huge furniture to shelter them instead. The photograph is actually real. It's not Photoshopped, and the furniture does tower over the pasture. The furniture was built by a German craftsman to promote his business, not to shelter his horses.

Horse e_books
If you're on Twitter, you may have noticed an account called Horse_ebooks. Most of Horse_ebooks's tweets are random incomplete sentences, and unfortunately, rarely have anything to do with horses. The account is fed by a spam bot, originally set up to promote a now obsolete horse themed e-book store, according to's Adrian Chen who tracked down the account's owner. Despite Horse_ebooks being a known spammer, the account has become somewhat of an internet phenomena, with over 200,000 followers who enjoy the tweets scraped from books and websites, like “make wishes for things” and “do the flowers look different in different weather conditions."

The Most Beautiful Horse in the World
Pictures have been circulating around the Internet of a cremello coated Akhal-Teke that are captioned 'the most beautiful horse in the world' and claim the photos were taken in Turkey. The photos, however, show objects and buildings in St. Petersburg, Russia. There's been some debate as to whether the photos have been 'Photoshoped' to make the horse's coat appear more metallic. However, a glowing coat is a characteristic of the Akhal-Teke, so manipulation probably wasn't necessary. And whether it's the most beautiful horse in the world is a matter of taste.

The True Fabrication Behind Hidalgo
The Long Rider's Guild is an invitation-only association of people who have ridden 1000 miles or more in a single journey. Their goal is to preserve the knowledge of humanely and respectfully traveling great distances on horseback, and they frown on attention-getters and thrill seekers. They devote an entire page to links to articles debunking the notion that the movie Hidalgo is based on a true story. According to many well researched articles, Frank Hopkins was, frankly, full of horse hooey. From his fabricated heritage to his exciting but unverifiable exploits, the legend of Hidalgo, and of Frank Hopkins in reality, exists only on paper.

If you've ever advertised on a horse selling site, you may receive an offer for your horse (or trailer, saddle, etc...) that seems too good to be true. A buyer offers to buy your horse, sight unseen, for your asking price. However, they offer to send you a check for an even larger sum of money, and all you have to do is forward the balance to another party, after taking a little extra for your trouble. We could all use some extra cash right? However, these offers are of course, scams. The online horse selling world is fraught with scammers who offer free horses or expensive breeds for cheap or send fake cashier checks. It's not only buyer beware on the internet, it's seller beware too.

Spelling Horse
Another photograph that is circulating around the Internet, especially on Facebook, is of an attractive Paint Horse, whose coat pattern appears to spell the word horse. This photo by 'batbrat' placed second on's Spell It Out Contest. “I wanted it to look realistic and subtle,” says batbrat. Mission accomplished as legions of horse lovers shared this photo.

That Teke is butt ugly - horrible pasterns, sickle hocks, ewe necked, mutton withers, ridiculously long backed, downhill and has piggy eyes. My dad sent me a picture of it saying "this horse looks wrong. Am I right?"

I'm pretty sure he [the Akhal Teke] is Perlino, not Cremello. The first photo is definitely smudged when you compare it to the second photo, and as for the beautifulest horse in the world? I don't believe any horse isn't beautiful but I reckon my few are nicer haha. People believe anything on the internet.

Now that I look closer at the first photo of the Akhal Teke I'm wondering why the tail looks smudged but the shadow of the tail is sharp.

That Teke has so many comfirmation errors that I can't count them. It doesn't look like it could hold weight without caving in!
