2018 Christmas Horse Toys
 By Saferaphus   •   23rd Nov 2018   •   99 views   •   0 comments

Was it last year that the top toy, Hatchimals, disappointed children everywhere? This year’s top toy is similar, but instead of hatching and then doing nothing, you can groom its tangles out and let it languish on a shelf. One of the top toys for 2018 is called Little Live Scruff-A-Luvs. These stuffed animals come in a variety colors. Out of the package the Scruff-A-Luvs look like large matted tennis balls in bright colors. When you wash them and brush them out, you get to see what pet you’ve got. After watching a video of the unboxing of some Scruff-A-Luvs I felt like I had eaten too much cotton candy. Really, there’s not much about these toys that horse owners don’t experience every spring. Except the dirt is real. But there are some cool horse themed toys on the top toys list this year.

Advent Calendars
We might as well fill the lead-in to the holidays with equine joy. The Schleich Horses Christmas Advent Calendar 2018 isn’t filled with chocolate, but with tiny figurines and accessories for the Horse Club Lakeside Riding Center. There’s also a Playmobil Advent Calendar Horse farm, filled with accessories. I looked for a horse themed advent calendar for older kids or adults and there’s seems to a gap in the market. Somebody needs to get busy making the 24 breeds of Christmas in Belgian chocolate advent calendar. That would be more fun than the “search for the 24 lost shoes in the snow or mud” we seem to play around here before the holidays.

Of course, Breyer leads the herd with two popular horse themed gifts. Every year Breyer creates a holiday horse and this year’s horse is a creation named Celestine. Celestine is a pearly white and is caparisoned in rich white and crystal. Look for other holiday offerings from Breyer like the tree ornaments and snow globes. Younger kids might enjoy the Breyer Paint Your Own. There are several breeds to choose from or there are two stable sets. Everyone gets a surprise with the Kris Kringle and Elf Holiday Grab Bags. Each bag contains Breyer models, accessories and crafts.

Rody Inflatable Hopping Horse
If you know a kid that just can’t sit still the Rody Inflatable Hopping Horse would be a great toy. My son used to sit and do his school work hopping on one of these sturdy rubber toys. They come in lots of different colors and a base is available to turn it into a rocking horse.

My Little Pony Singing Rainbow Dash
My Little Ponies have been around for a long time! Prses the ‘cutie mark’ on Dash to hear her sing ‘Time to Be Awesome’ and three more songs from the My Little Pony movie and series. She also says fifteen sayings. The pony comes with instructions and lyrics to the songs.

TEDCO 4D Vision Horse Model
Admittedly, when I gave a similar toy to my niece a few years ago the response was ‘yuck’! All of the adults were intrigued however. Perhaps she was a bit too young. This might go over really well with an older child who thinks they might want to be a vet. You can remove all the bones and organs of this model and learn the anatomy, external and internal of a horse.

A few other horse toys that caught my eye were:
Melissa and Doug Giant Rainbow Unicorn
Melissa and Doug Take-Along Horse Show Stable Play Set
Disney Princess Carriage
VTech Myla the Magical Make-Up Unicorn
My Lovely Unicorn Electric Ride-On,
Disney’s Tangled Maximus
