Horse Collapses at Sugar Shack Wagon Ride
 By Winniefield Park   •   25th Apr 2019   •   471 views   •   0 comments

Animal activists cry foul as video of a horse pulling a wagon load of tourists enjoying a day at a maple sugar bush fell. The Montreal SPCA is investigating and the contractor who ran the wagon ride at the sugar bush has suspended operations while an investigation takes place.

Some witnesses said they observed that the horse appeared to have trouble breathing before it collapsed. It then stayed on the ground while workers struggled to unhitch it from its team mate and the wagon. The horse was able to rise on its own once freed.

While the operators of the sugar bush and horse team are waiting to find out the health status of the horse, there is no plan to discontinue wagon rides in the future.
