Halifax Police Retire Sarge After 13 Years of Service
 By Winniefield Park   •   30th Apr 2019   •   437 views   •   0 comments

When a police officer retires, there’s usually a ceremony to mark the occasion. After a career of putting your life on the line, you deserve some recognition. So when Duty Sergeant, an eighteen year old Clyde cross, who has been with the mounted unit of the Halifax Police for the last thirteen years was retired, there was cake and fanfare to mark the occasion.

Affectionately know as Sarge, he and a Percheron X Thoroughbred named Valour, patrolled the streets of Halifax, New Brunswick, Canada and acted as ambassadors for the Halifax Regional Police. Sarge logged many miles on patrol, in parades and appeared in many community events.

Sarge’s celebrated by tasting a special cake amongst well wishers from the police force and the public. The ceremony also included a swearing in of a new member of the mounted unit.
