Why Maximum Security Was Disqualified at Kentucky Derby
 By Winniefield Park   •   11th May 2019   •   335 views   •   0 comments

Days after the running of the 145 Kentucky Derby race fans are still debating the disqualification of Maximum Security. The owner of the horse made an appeal to have the decision overturned. But, officials, who have examined the video of the horse veering into the path of another, have made their final decision. And, argues lawyers, if the owner, who believes his horse was fouled on, decides to appeal the outcome in court, they are unlikely to be successful.

The incident has assured that there will be no Triple Crown winner for 2019. The Kentucky Derby is the first race in the prestigious contest and the final winner of the Derby, Country House, will not be running in the second race, the Preakness Stakes. Following the Derby race, the horse developed a cough and it was decided he was not in peak condition to run.
