Istanbul Tourist Carriage Horses In Dire Condition
 By Winniefield Park   •   9th Feb 2020   •   247 views   •   0 comments

It often seems that tourism and horses is an unfortunate mix, especially when the offerings go unregulated. Such is the case in Istanbul, where carriage rides have come under scrutiny. Combined with a deadly virual outbreak, Istanbul's carriage horses are in dire condition. The disease killed many horses, and the country’s horse population is still under quarantine. The loss of horses means the surviving ones must pick up the slack - leaving them overworked. Animal rights activists are disturbed not only by the ravages wrought be the disease, but by the poor treatment and unhealthy conditions the horses live in. They claim it’s time for the carriage rides to end.
