PonyBox Rare Jumpers
 By Winniefield Park   •   17th Feb 2020   •   4,072 views   •   0 comments
If you look at the jumping statistics you’ll see that the most common breed in the competitions is the Thoroughbred. This makes sense since Thoroughbreds are athletes that excel in high jumping competitions. Currently, the highest record jump is not held by a Thoroughbred. It’s held by a horse of a rare breed. Combing through the stats, a few rare breeds shine, horses that you wouldn’t normally associate with jumping competitions.

Konakele
Konakele

Moyle Horse
Currently, the high jump record holder is a Moyle Horse named Konakele. This 15 year old mare is by the thirteenth generation stallion * Balerion. Her dam is twelfth generation mare * Meraxes. Konakele has earned 6,924,950 PB in winnings, 10,000 of that for her All-time World Record Breed Jump on January 11, 2020. Her best rank is number one and her highest jump is 101.25".

But what is a Moyle Horse? According to the Oklahoma State University Breeds of Livestock, Department of Animal Science the Moyle Horse was developed as a riding horse, and are descendents of Mustangs brought from Utah to Idaho. Their unique characteristic is a boss; a bony protrusion on the front of the horse’s skull that looks a bit like a horn. The name comes from the name of the family who developed the breed, using descendents of Mustangs used as Pony Express ponies.

Hail The Ace

Unicorn
Unicorns can do a lot of things, including jump. Unicorns like Hail The Ace are talented jumpers. Hail the Ace is a 14 year old stallion by 16th generation stallion Cold Dark Moon. Hail The Ace has earned 1,528,800 PB with a high jump of 95.75".

Unicorns are mythical creatures purported to have many magical powers. They look like horses with a spiraling horn growing from the middle of their foreheads. Some representations show them with cloven hooves, rather than the typical horse hoof. It’s believed the elixirs or cups made of unicorn horns neutralize poisons and have other magical and medicinal qualities.

Kelpie
Kelpies are legendary magical creatures that are known as shapeshifters. They most often appear as horses, and when they do, they can be formidable jumpers. * Synnove is just one such Kelpie, and is currently in the top five high jumpers. Fourteen year old Synnove is by *BC Solaris. He has earned 1,528,800 PB and his highest jump is 95.75", earning him a place at the very top of the ranks.

Sicarius
Sicarius

Tori
The sturdy, cresty Tori, is a horse developed in Estonia, a small country south of Finland that borders on western Russia. To improve the breed Hanoverian, Holstein and Trakehner stallions have been used. Although it was bred as a driving horse, on Ponybox they are winning jumpers. Sicarius, HT The Craftsman and others have made their mark in jumpoffs and many are +80 inch jumpers. Sicarius leads the pack with 96" with 830,050 PB in earnings and has reached the top five in rank. This fifteen year old mare is by 8th generation GS Divine Advantage. Sicarius is still competing in jumpoffs so may achieve even more.
