“The ____ have returned to ____. Nature is healing. We are the virus.” It has been a popular meme on social networking for the last while. And as funny as the meme has been, there is some truth to it. There are news stories of how animals are returning to areas once busy with human activity. Elephants have broken into a distillery making corn wine and slept off their hangovers in a nearby tea garden. Deer and turkeys are wandering city streets. Orcas are showing up in areas they haven’t visited for years. Swans are swimming the canals of Venice and stray horses have been grazing the parks and roadsides of a community in Turkey. A nearby park, Sasali National Forest is home to a herd of wild horses who apparently have decided to turn the tables on the humans that live next door.
