The Disappearing Desert Horses of Namibia
 By Winniefield Park   •   25th Jul 2020   •   131 views   •   0 comments

The desert is a harsh landscape to survive in. But the wild horses of Namibia have been eking out an existence among the coastal dunes of that country for a century. It’s not certain just how they got there, but what is known is that the survival of the herds is in jeopardy. And, that is bad news for the small communities that rely on the horses to attract tourists to the area. It’s not humans that are the problem, but predation from other native wildlife. Drought is another threat to their already difficult struggles. This has led to a plan by tourism and environmental experts that may help save the threatened horses.
