Stadium Jumping in the Modern Pentathalon

We’ve heard of horses that are all-rounders, but there’s a type of human athlete that could be described that way too. Participants in the modern pentathlon compete in five different sports, including stadium jumping. This multidisciplinary competition requires not just horseback riding skill, but the ability to assess the horse in a very short time before the riding portion begins. This video is a look at the skills and focus needed to compete in this demanding sport.
