Exploring the History of Our Past looks at the transition from equine power to motor vehicles almost one hundred and twenty years ago in the mountains of Appalachia. Whether ridden or driven, the horse and mule were central to transportation over the rough, mountainous roads and often difficult agricultural lands. Shortly before WWI however, things began to change even though the horse or mule still held supreme in some situations.
