Anime Techniques

Anime Art is one of my most favourite passions. It is so much fun for me!

I have a few easy to use techniques for you to improve your anime art as well.

For my eyes, I start with the top eyelid. Then I draw a circle underneath for the eyeball. From here I add the lower lid and eyelashes. Most eyebrows follow the same line as the upper lid. The iris and pupil are your own interpretation. Mine are three basic circles. One for the highlights of the eye, one for the pupil, and one for the iris. Female eyes usally have more highlights than male.

Facial features are very difficult. Here is step by step on an anime face:
1. Draw a circle (head)
2. draw one line vertically through the middle.
3. Draw one line horizontally 3/4 up from the bottom of your head
4. Draw another horizontal line 2 inches below the horizontal line.
The two parallel lines represent where your eyes will go, the vertical, where the nose will be.

Space the eyes evenly apart within your parallel lines.

Draw a small line (about 1/2 in.) where the parallel lines and vertical line intersect. This will be your nose.

Erase your guidelines

About 1 inch below your nose, add a mouth. Any style you like will work.

Stereotypical anime hair is very pouffy and spiky. If you do not like this style, try doing something that will work for you!

Erase all lines that are unneeded. You have an anime face all your own! Don't forget to sign it!

In this article, there are some of my drawings. Each are not any living people, they are just random drawings. Do not claim my work as your own.
