Photoshop Elements 8 Review
|
|
Photoshop Elements 8 is one of the most advanced programs involved with graphic art. It has multiple filters, brushes, options and different tools – making it amazingly easy to touch up that photo, or create that animation, or make that next masterpiece.
I’ve used Elements 8 for 3 months now. I use a tablet – and it works especially well with that, no hassles at all. I’ve noticed with various graphic programs that the tablet connection tends to slow the program down.
Without using a tablet, you still have the plentiful options of changing brush opacity (making brushes lighter or darker), changing brush pressure, etc. There’s thousands and thousands of options which make the price worth while!
The Pros of Photoshop Elements 8:
Multiple brushes for any use you can think of (leaves, fire, smoke, water, textures..)
Endless range of colours (and very easy to select)
Options of photo organizing, sharing and editing, all in one program.
Beginner friendly, but has some advanced work.
Great price range for the quality of the program
Based on 18 years of Photoshop knowledge, made by Adobe, Photoshop Elements 8 is the top program in digital and graphic software.
The Cons of Photoshop Elements 8:
Organizer part of the program can be very hard to organize, defeating the purpose.
Can be hard to follow at times especially the help section if you ask some questions.
Other than that, I don’t really see much as wrong with it. It’s a program that is value for money, and is fantastic for horse graphics (as we all know and love on Ponybox!)
The price ranges from $150-$300 in Australia. If you purchase it through a student discount centre, with proof of your school ID, you can get it for a lower price. Most shops have reasonable prices, ranging from $200 US onwards. (Not being American, I’m not completely familiar with all price ranges.)
To sum up this review – Photoshop Elements 8 is a highly recommended program for those interested in the digital arts. A must have for all aspiring artists!
Image 2-4 are some examples of my work done in Elements 8.

Wow, I can't believe how amazing your mane and tails are! This article is great! What tablet do you use? I've been looking for one for ages that will work just right for me.

Nice graphics you got there! I use Photoshop Cs4 I believe and I really like Adobe's products. Another thing that really works well with the tablet is airbrushing and pen pressure, which means that it's much easier to manes and cutting as well as digis.

Great article :D i love photoshop elements, i personally find it easy to use, all the options give you what you want and not something else. You can also tweak to what you want which is much better than Gimp. I agree with your pros and cons :)
