I started on this project basically as soon as you announced it. I shot the first few nature clips at the beginning during the first few days and the scene where Bayfire is first seen standing at the fence. The clips after that I attempted to shoot on the first few days too, but eventually threw those out and re-did them weeks later. For a couple of weeks I was held up by technical difficulties, as I could not get the videos from our camera to the computer. Finally I downloaded some freeware from Koyote.com, which solved the problem.
I was the voice of Bayfire (No, I don‘t have an English accent), I took all the videos and moved Bayfire around for most of them. The main theme of part 1 was Bayfire longing for freedom and then escaping. I finally finished it on May 11th.
I was inspired to put part 2 in (The part where Bayfire is seen from the eyes of humans) by my little brother, who commented that it seemed a little weird that people were not involved in the movie at all. For the scene where Bayfire is attempting to cross the Carson “river” (our pool), my mom acted as the reporter as well as recording the video, my little brother made the waves on an inner-tube, my dad rigged up a fancy string mechanism that made Bayfire float upright in the water, which he and I held from opposite sides of the pool. The last family member, my little sister kept our rooster quiet. It was a very complicated scene, but it worked! Well, for the most part.
Part 3 was simply just showing the horse getting out of the Carson, some scenes of her galloping and finally finding the long-awaited herd. I actually don’t own most of the Breyers in the last scene. A girl from my riding lessons who collects Breyers with her mom let me use a few from her collection. I had a lot of fun making this video and it has been a great summer break project for me. Overall I’ve spent around 8 hours on the 3 minute video. |

Unfortunately I wouldn't feel right about keeping the model horses I borrowed an extra four weeks or so, the time it would take to make the movie, as I don't know her very well.
